• What Did You Watch? 2025-07-12 (Saturday)

    From Ian J. Ball@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jul 13 12:48:49 2025
Yesterday I ran errands in the morning, and then procrastinated most of
the day. And yesterday was weird - all of the main sports (Wimbledon,
Scottish Open) were on in the morning before noon, so there wasn't much
    on in the afternoon.

    Anyway, yesterday I watched:

    soaps: Y&R - I think Wed's thru Fri's ep's. More drama in France - Lily
is all verklempt after having a dream about Damian and Cane, but throws
herself at Damian afterwards which Cane witnesses, depressing him. More silliness with Kyle and Audra - Audra is still trying to seduce Kyle
(which Cane picks up on). Adam returns to Genoa City, and confirms to
Chelsea that Cane is Aristotle Dumas; Claire tells Adam that Cole died.
Holden tries to comfort a grieving Claire. Claire and Adam observe this,
and Claire tells Adam that she thinks Holden is spying for Cane - so
Adam offers Holden a job to test him... Next week, it looks like they
are going to kill off Damian - he just joined the show! and they're
going to kill him off already?!

Little Girl in the Woods (LMN) - New LMN flick filmed in the darkest,
coldest depths of Can-a-der!! (IMDb doesn't say where - I'm going to
guess it's just semi-remote Ontario, 60-90 miles outside of Toron-ter...)
Alana Hawley Purvis (she was just in Sat night's new LMN flick!!) is
the lead here - in the film's open, her daughter tragically dies while
talking on the phone while the daughter is hiking in the darkest,
    coldest depths of Can-a-der!!
It's then some time later (they don't say how long) and the woman is
now in a support group with 4 other women who lost daughters(?) as well.
The support group is to go on a trip, out into the darkest, coldest
depths of Can-a-der!! to visit the site where Hawley Purvis' character's daughter died... as part of the "healing process"(?! - yeah, I don't get
    it either).
Of course, out in the depths of darkest, coldest depths of
Can-a-der!! things go wrong, like a bear eating their map and their sat
phone. So the women go looking for a new phone to call for help, and
come across an unoccupied cabin, where... they discover a teen girl
(Juliette Hawk - she was just in Sat night's new LMN flick too!!)
chained up in the crawlspace below the house, and with obvious signs of
    abuse.
The women rescue the girl from captivity, which enrages the
backwoods villain of the piece (Roark Critchlow, who also had a bit part
in Sat night's new LMN flick!!).
Now the women are on the run from this backwoods loonie (see what I
did there!!) and his clan. Will they all survive, and save the captive
girl?! Or are they all doomed?!!
Anyway, like I said - I actually thought this one wasn't bad.

It is really an excellent movie if you like psychological horror, and a

The first time I saw it, I was not expecting the twist at the end. Bette
Davis invented an all-new movie genre.

The first season of Feud was about, in part, the making of this movie.
Jessica Lange was terrific as Joan Crawford, daring to show an aging
actress that Crawford covered up in public.

The Supergirl stuff is straight from the comics.

I found these movie to comic comparison images on twitter:

The new Supergirl movie is already filmed and releasing next year.

I have this video on my watch list. Maybe I will get to it today.

This is a multiday catch up. Over the last few days I watched:

The Bear (Hulu) I finished out the horrible season 4. This season was a
true mess. One episode was just a bunch of celebrities, who obviously
wanted to be on the show, sitting around talking. I think they have an
episode like that every season. Or at least since the show took off.

Murderbot (AppleTV+) - "The Peremieter" - A lackluster season finale
that I guess wraps everything up. The finale was the living embodiment
of meh. Did they run out of money or something?

Foundation (AppleTV+) - "A Song for the End of Everything" - Season 3
premier. THe show does a time jump 150 years further into the future,
and yet keeps the same cast. The plot shifts to the Foundation now
being established a power in its' own right that almost rivals what
remains of Empire. They are still the big bad, but they've basically
been forced to leave the Foundation alone as it continues to expand.
Pilou Asbæk joins the series as the new Big Bad, "The Mule" who plans to conquer both Foundation and Empire. This episode wraps up just as
Foundation and Empire begin to realize there's a new threat out there
that may be coming after both of them.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (4K disc) 1997 horror movie that rode "Scream's" coattails to success. The movie stars a group of young 90s
stars who hit a man on the road and when they realize he's still alive
decide to finish the job and dump his corpse in the ocean. A year later someone mysterious comes back looking for revenge.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (4K disc) 1998 cash grab sequel
which finds the survivors from the first movie once again facing off
someone with a killer grudge, and the patience to wait a full year
    before striking.

I saw the trailer for the remake of this over the weekend when I went to JURASSIC PARK and I had the same reaction I did when I watched the originals: why doesn't someone just get a damn gun? Once I realized some lunatic is picking off my friends one-by-one, you better believe I'm conceal-carrying everywhere I go from that point on, even if I'm just walking down the hall to the bathroom. This guy isn't Freddy or Jason, who are supernaturally empowered and who can shrug off .357 rounds like they're nothing. This is just a guy in
a raincoat with a meathook. Two to the center mass and one to the head and the problem goes away.

When the late great Siskel and Ebert reviewed one of the sequels, Roger
pointed out that at least a couple years must’ve passed and that Love’s breasts kept getting larger with each poster. He suggested that at this
point the movie should be called “I Still Know What Your Breasts Did Two Summers Before Last“

Yesterday I ran errands in the morning, and then procrastinated most of
the day. And yesterday was weird - all of the main sports (Wimbledon,
Scottish Open) were on in the morning before noon, so there wasn't much
    on in the afternoon.

I watched Wimbledon every day last week on ESPN and of course the big
male championship yesterday, sometimes you had to be up pretty early to
    see everything.

John McEnroe seems to be mellowing out in his old age. Maybe the new computerized line calling system helps, lol.

    Anyway, yesterday I watched:
Little Girl in the Woods (LMN) - New LMN flick filmed in the darkest,
coldest depths of Can-a-der!! (IMDb doesn't say where - I'm going to
guess it's just semi-remote Ontario, 60-90 miles outside of Toron-ter...)

Hunh, sounds okay. Those low-budget indie adventures can be a lot of
    fun.

Saturday night I watched a couple of old Christine Ricci movies on LMN,
about Nelly Bly and Lizzie Borden. I don't even know if they were
originally theater releases or LMN originals, probably the former since
    the quality was pretty good.
