Why is everyone so worked up over a TV show being canceled? Networks cancel shows all the time and the world doesn't have a collective meltdown over it. How come this mediocre talk show is getting this kind of special concern?

It's the number one rated late night talk show so it's not mediocre.
Also there's the possible connection between Trump, Epstein and the
Paramount merger. It's that possible connection that is what is making
it news worthy as I'm sure you know. Without that Trump connection it
would be news but not nearly as talked about.

It's the number one rated late night talk show so it's not mediocre.

I meant it's mediocre in terms of quality. Lots of insipid crap gets good ratings. Just look at all those reality shows. I mean, THE BACHELOR? Come on.

Someone on one of the news channels said it costs CBS $100 million to produce Colbert's show and it has a staff of 200 people. A show which basically consists of two chairs and a desk where people sit and talk to each other. Whatever they're spending that $100 mil on, it certainly doesn't show up on
the screen. And why you'd need 200 people to make it happen is god's own private mystery.

Also there's the possible connection between Trump, Epstein and the
Paramount merger. It's that possible connection that is what is making
it news worthy as I'm sure you know. Without that Trump connection it
would be news but not nearly as talked about.

There is no actual Trump connection. Just a lot of politically-motivated conspiracy theories.

Give him credit for trying to make this Epstein-related. TDS is the AIDS

I can't really comment on that as those shows aren't my thing. Last
time I watched the typical late night show was back when Carson was
hosting the tonight show. Then I would bounce between Letterman and
Conan. Now it's the Daily Show but mostly either shorts or Monday's
when Stewart is hosting. Otherwise the network talk shows are a blind
spot to me, mostly because it's all about pushing the latest
    book/movie/TV show.

Someone on one of the news channels said it costs CBS $100 million to produce >Colbert's show and it has a staff of 200 people. I imagine a lot goes into booking people and making all the
arrangements. Then you've got to have people handling the set and
production. Does that take 200 people? I don't know but then I don't
know what sort of union rules they are working under.

Also there's the possible connection between Trump, Epstein and the
Paramount merger. It's that possible connection that is what is making

There is no actual Trump connection. Just a lot of politically-motivated >conspiracy theories.

But that's the point as the possible connection makes it something
that can be talked about endlessly. Neither you, nor I, nor the talk
show hosts know if there is or isn't a connection. The timing is what
really helped sell the idea that there is a connection. If CBS made
the announcement six months from now it likely wouldn't have made as
    much of a splash.

It's the number one rated late night talk show so it's not mediocre.

I meant it's mediocre in terms of quality. Lots of insipid crap gets good >>>> ratings. Just look at all those reality shows. I mean, THE BACHELOR? Come on.

I quit when Craig Ferguson quit.

Craig was great. Sadly I didn't catch him when his show was on so I
never knew how good it was. Have caught a number of clips on Youtube.
Would love if he ever came back as he had such a great rapport with
    all of his guests.

Yeah, the clips from his show are the best thing that REELS on Facebook has
    to offer.

Good question - I've been watching TV since a little tyke and all
sorts of shows have wound up through the years that I would rather not
    have ended.

Imagine that! Don't they know that no good thing lasts forever? (I'm

    'a good thing')

I felt the same way about Star Trek, Babylon 5 and even V (though to

I'll agree based on the two pics. I loved Badler's hair in the

Didn't see either. As for smoking hot brunettes I confess I tend not
to notice unless they have a great character - which is ultimately
ironic since both my wife and mother were fair but brunette (which
tends to be most common in the Irish ethnicity which my mother was but
    not milady)
