• More TV shows showing up on Youtube

From shawn@21:1/5 to All on Mon Aug 11 02:46:55 2025
I just ran across this and was surprised. Apparently Lionsgate
is putting up at least some of their shows on Youtube. The one I saw
was the show/season opener for EARTH FINAL CONFLICT. Looking at their
channel I also WEEDS and SCREAM QUEENS and other shows are available
    to watch the full episodes.

    https://www.youtube.com/@LionsgateTelevision/videos

Looking at the dates all of this just started being available in the
last few months and more shows are being added to the list as time
goes by. Youtube may not be the best viewing platform but at least
there are yet more places to catch various shows.

ToolManTV is uploading episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea that
he’s uprising to 1080 apparently by himself. Unfortunately, he seems to be starting with the episodes shown on MeTV, which are in lousy shape and cut
to start with. I have no idea why he doesn’t use the DVDs or gray web versions for source material.

Additionally, I just realized last week, when trying to look
up the name and actors, etc., of a recent MeTV episode, that
they're NOT broadcasing a hefty chunk of them.

Not sure why... it's not like when MeTV decided to kill off
the Flinstones episodes with the "towel heads" (that is,
    Muslim visitors).

While I can understand that one (although I disagree [a]), there
doesn't seem to be any similar issue with the Voyage ones.

Anyone have contact info for ToolManTV? I'd cheerfully kick
him a bit of cash to purchase a Voyage DVD set.

(I don't have the easy ability to do the transfers myself)

[a] I'd much prefer the TCM option, where they simply have
their presenter explain, when introducing the movie, that
it was made back when, well, it was made, and to keep that
    in perspective...

They just seem to enlarge the really old movies now, expect you to
fiddle with it on your end apparently (if possible). On those movies
you can barely see the the top of the occasional channel ID "bug" they
show. But other movies look fine, it's strange.

Maybe they have market research that shows their ratings are better
without any vertical black bars. <shrug>

Kind of ironic when they used to run that promo all the time with
Speilberg, Scorsese, Sydney Pollack and other directors singing the
praises of showing movies in their original aspect ratio.

I’d start by asking Ian, and then since whatever he tells you is wrong, you’ve narrowed down what to do.

This time it just showed up in the suggestions area when I was
watching something else. If there's a particular show you can type it
in the search box on Youtube and it will show any clips or shows
    available on the site.

So I just did a quick search for "classic episodes" and it brought up
this site that has many classic movies and TV shows like THE
    HONEYMOONERS.

    https://www.youtube.com/@in2movies/videos

Another tip is that if you have an ad blocker you can watch the free
movies that Youtube keeps offering with ads, but without ads.

    So you can go here:
    https://www.youtube.com/feed/storefront?bp=ogUCKAY%3D
and actually watch any of those free movies without any ads.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks. So this would be to search for a particular show, but there
isn't a category listing I could explore? There are a bunch of
categories listed across the top, but none are TV.

Unfortunately YouTube keeps making changes to their advertising, which
is making it more difficult for ad blockers to keep the rubbish away.

Once you've found one video you like, you can click on the account
holder's name to go to the account page, which often has more shows /
episodes (sometimes in the "Videos" section and sometimes in the
"Playlists" section. But it can be rather awful trawling through page
after page if the account holder hasn't bothered to properly sort them.
