    I've always wondered how those people learned the stories in order to reference them. How can a story be told entirely in memes taken from
    other stories? Where's the entry point? How do they even learn basic
    word meanings if nobody ever says anything like "Please pass the
    pepper"?

    Perhaps there's a children's language where they speak more plainly, but
    it's considered disrespectful to use it with an adult. You'd really
    think Dathon would have at least tried it, though, given all the trouble
    they were having.

    I think it was a budget saving episode and the writers didn't put much
    thought into it.
