I found an excellent YT channel called "Poetry Meets Music" that makes mashups of poets reading their own work with parts of songs. Most of videos are stills, but I embedded those that weren't, and even stills less than 2 minutes. Which brings us to 70
minutes, long enough, but with plenty of room to add more if needed.

Robert Lowell & Philip Glass - For The Union Dead (Metamorphosis) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIYptu7t110

William Carlos Williams & Pixies - This Is Just To Say (Hey) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ICcDVbJjk

Saul Williams & Fugazi - Untimely Meditations (Long Division) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYQyFYGGJto

Randall Jarrell & Moby - The Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner (God Moving...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5dTreTMrSI

Lisa Jarnot & Beck - Future Poem (Hotwax) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8Cq4pOAwBY

Bill Knott & The Beatles - Corpse And Beans, Or What Is Poetry? (Two Of Us) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_H7cc5TR0g

Sylvia Plath & Doris Day - The Applicant (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR7WxNp7lAo

Czeslaw Milosz & New Order - A Song On The End Of The World (Blue Monday) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkvXbBsCAyM

I'd rather not use "Stairway to Heaven". It's a great song, etc., and we could argue over whether it's a poem or not, but I don't want to get into that type of argument here on the Dancehall. So I've tried to limit it to recognized published poets (
Morrison, Dylan, Cohen, Scott-Heron) or songwriters using works by recognized published poets (Joni using Yeats, Annie Lennox using Marlowe, Ochs using Poe, Neil Peart using Coleridge). And I think we've got enough; we're over 90 minutes already; there's
still room if anyone thinks of a gotta-have we've overlooked, but I'd say it's essentially done.

I'll put an official announcement up tomorrow or Thursday, after MD and I watch it and time it on TV tomorrow, but (as always) here's a sneak preview for those of us (you, Will, and me) who've been in since the beginning here on Usenet:

I see what you mean, but did you get this essential one in..?

David Gilmour - Sonnet 18 (William Shakespeare) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-yWBYfi1_k

No, we didn't, but we have it now. How could we have a poetry Dancehall and leave off Shakespeare?

I haven't yet sent out all the Dancehall promos on facebook, so I'll make sure to include his name there as well.
