You're right in assuming that most Americans will vote for a charismatic President over schlub. Most Americans possess only a cursory knowledge
of each candidate's political platforms; and if they base their
selection on anything other than looks and personality, it's going to be
on a "hot" side issue (like abortion or LGBTQ rights) rather than on how
they will actually govern our Nation.

President Trump is nothing if not charismatic. However, he's a little
too charismatic for most Americans who see him as a would-be dictator.
Yes, he has a strong group of base supporters (MAGA), but not enough to
secure any election. Vice President Harris' failure was not because she
has the personality of a damp dishcloth.

President Trump won his first Presidential term because a vote for him
was a vote *against* Hillary Clinton (a woman who many Americans
actively, and intensely, dislike). He won this term because the economy
under his first term was infinitely better than our current economy
    under Biden.

Had Ms. Harris admitted that the economy was in a deplorable state, and
laid our her plans for fixing it, she might have had a chance. Since
she did not, many voters assumed that she would continue along the lines
of the current Administration (in which she is, after all, Vice
    President).

Further, the Republican party has come to represent the blue collar,
working men and women of America; whereas the Democrats represent white
collar urban liberals. Note how New York state, which gave its
electoral votes to V.P. Harris, appears on the color-coded
county/district maps as being red with a couple of blue spots. When
blue collar Americans are struggling to get by, they will actively
resist plans to spend their tax money on liberal causes like benefits
    for illegal (non-tax paying) aliens.

Charity is a luxury (not to mention a tax break) for the wealthy. If
working class Americans wish to support a charity, they want it to be of
their own choice -- not a decision that politicians thrust upon them.

President Trump is teaming up with fellow self-made billionaire Elon
Musk to save America's economy. They certainly have the credentials for
the job -- and the jump in the Dow upon President Trump's reelection
shows that the world at large strongly believes in their ability to do
    so.

Should they succeed, and the odds are that they will, *no* Democrat is
going to unseat President Trump (or, should the President decline to run
for a third term), V.P. Vance. The voting public will want to hold onto
their better standard of living, and will certainly not jeopardize it by handing it back to the party that destroyed it in the first place.

2028 will be another Republican win.

As to the prospect of a female President, I don't think it's much of an
issue. Michelle Obama is certainly popular enough to win. If the
Democrats run her (or former President Obama) in 2034, they just might
    have a chance.

As per the 22nd Amendment, yes.

However, President Trump has four years in which to overturn that
    Amendment.

On the contrary, it sounds extremely likely.

President Trump has vowed to remove/counteract any
bill/policy/agency/etc. that the Biden Administration has passed.
What's to stop the 48th President from erasing President Trump's
    legacy as well?

I'll tell you what -- an end to Presidential term limits.

Amendments are not written in stone. The 18th Amendment was Repealed
after only 14 years. The 22nd is long overdue for Repeal.

Congressmen and women are not subject to term limits, and Supreme
Court Justices are appointed for life. It doesn't make any sense that
a President should be limited to no more than 8 years.

And, word has it that President Trump is planning on enacting several
bills that will increase the President's power -- making him the most
powerful President since FDR (whose 12-year Presidency, BTW, was the
reason the 22nd Amendment was enacted).

I would be greatly surprised if the 22nd Amendment were not Repealed
by the end of President Trump's second year in Office.

As I told Brian Mallard, a good president is a president for all the

Two things I've stated that Trump will need to do in these four years,
which of course he didn't do in his first four years:

1.) Stop crime, or at least slow it down considerably. The deputized
neighborhood militia would be a good start for that on local levels.

2.) Bring down our grocery prices. Last week, on election night,
actually, I bought two bags of rice and a jar of instant coffee. It was
over $12 just for that, I couldn't even afford a piece of meat.

If Trump can fix at least those two problems in four years, then Vance
will have something to run on.

That's my unapologetic opinion, but I'm basing it on my eye witness
account as an American living in these modern times.

    "Make it so."

In regard to crime, why attempt to stop it? Yes, I am being
somewhat facetious, but it raises a valid point, doesn’t it? Here we
have a twice impeached, 4 times indicted, convicted felon who has gotten
away with no doubt, *countless* serious crimes, why should everyone
release have to pay for their crimes while’s this criminal gets off Scot >> free in regard to everything?

    Excellent point, really.

Interesting that the Democrats found themselves in the same situation
the Republicans were in back in 2008.

An elderly president (McCain) and a female running mate for VP (Palin)
it just doesn't work for either side, it gave the election to Obama then
and it gave it to Trump this time.

    And so it goes.

    That's simply not true, Donkey.

The Democrats did not have an elderly President with a female running
mate this election. They had a female Presidential candidate with a
    male running mate.

They had an elderly Presidential candidate with a female VP in the
    previous election, and the won.

FYI:The Democrats lost for three reasons:

    1) The economy under Biden is terrible, and his popularity rating (per
Gallup) ranked him as the least popular President of all time (or since
    there have been Gallup polls).

    2) An unpopular President's VP is not going to make a strong candidate regardless of their sex.

    3) Donald Trump is extremely popular. He won the popular vote and has a fiercely devoted fan base. In 2016, people voted *against* Hillary. In
2024, they voted *for* Donald Trump.

You really need to learn how to take a class in anger management. The
American people voted for President Trump because the economy was
significantly better under his previous administration than under
President Biden's. As a self-admitted millionaire who has never needed
to work for a living, the struggles of everyday Americans to pay their
rent and put food on their table is lost on you.

It was better -- and Trump leaned on the economy to conduct
a trade war with China. That hurt farmers in the heartland.
Another "farm bill" to the rescue -- how is that not socialism?

Then Trump sat on his thumbs for months while a global pandemic
was brewing. Couldn't bring himself to use the playbook that
had been written for that specific situation. NIH and all that.

Of course the economy tanked. But it's all but recovered, and wages
have kept pace with inflation. Prices now are the "new normal", just
as they've always been after a period of inflation.

A huge issue now is bird flu, which is wiping out chickens, and
is now being spread by cattle. Should have been contact tracing
long ago, now it's in herds in several states. That's why the price
of eggs spiked -- not inflation, which was the fish story told by
    the R's.

Like it or not, the stupid people will be in charge. The HHS secretary
is an advocate for raw milk, for chrissake. One wrong mutation with
bird flu, and we're going to end up with a lot of dead citizens. It needs
    to be eradicated.

    Biden wasn't running for President.

Kamala Harris was running for President.

Harris is not "an elderly President with a female running mate." She is
a 60-year old female VP with a 60-year old male running mate (Tim Walz).
