A quick ote for those concerned about not hearing from the blog this
    weekend.

Penny's Poetry Blog went public on New Year's Day 2010, with the
publication of our first (and still the longest) pennypoem, "Penny (or
    Penny's Hat)". To mark the blog's 15th anniversary, I am constructing a
new Pennypoem, "Penny's Blog". The poem is coming along nicely, and I
should be able to post the first (actually the last) stanza by tomorrow.
The idea is to blog one stanza of "Penny's Blog" per day, followed by
posting of the full poem (in two parts) at the end of the month. In
addition, as with "Penny's OS", I will be posting a hyperlinked version "Penny's Blog 2.0", at a later date.

As each stanza is posted to the blog, it will also be promoted in the
usual places by our usual means. Penny and I hope that you will enjoy
    reading it.

I decided to keep all the posts in one thread, and this looked like the
right place. If I'd have thought of that earlier, I'd have titled it
"News about Penny's Blog" this'll work.

Unfortunately it's starting off weak, just because there's fewer words,
so fewer poems, starting with the last few letters of the alphabet: I
had literally nothing for X and Z, while 3 of the other 4 were shorter
than a triolet. (Today's, for instance, had just 4 lines). Tomorrow
they'll get longer, though, when I hit T.

    Good one, George.

Yes, those 4 lines are just excellent. For one thing, they're all so
completely balanced: six compete thoughts, two to a line, no extraneous
words. And the thoughts are an interesting mix of thoughts: Sarah
Teasdale's best-known title, a few more obcure first lines (2 by Emily Dickihson), and 3 titles of poems that almost no reader would recognize
(from Tom Hendricks, AE Reiff, and myself).

I wish all of the poem read that well. That's the objective here, to
have lines that a poetry reader would enjoy reading.

    OMFG!

You're writing a "poem" consisting of the first lines of each of the
poems that you've posted on your blog???

I don't know whether one should look on this as an example of morbid self-conceit, a profound anal-retentive pettiness, or a disturbing
    mixture of both.

I realize that your Donkey has been obediently braying that it is
"interesting" (Mr. Donkey's go-to word for anything he doesn't
understand), but are you so far gone that you're assigning any value to
    his words... er, word?

I can't imagine how anyone could choose to engage in such a pointless
waste of time. You really should consult a therapist. Canada must
provide free, or at least affordable, mental health services.

I'm sorry, George. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm reminded of an episode of "The Honeymooners" where Ralph records an
apology to Alice. At a loss for words, Norton passes him a series of
records, so that he can read of the title of each.

Oh well. What can one do, except to throw in another record title: "To
    Each His Own."

I don't know whether one should look on this as an example of morbid
    self-conceit, a profound anal-retentive pettiness, or a disturbing

Even armchair var. psychologists are wary of drawing rash conclusions.
I will say that I'm leaning toward Door Number Three.

    Interesting...

I can't imagine how anyone could choose to engage in such a pointless
    waste of time.

Well, I admit it's no "Slurp Puppet" - but then I couldn't imagine
anyone in their right mind spending the time to write something like
    that, either.

The "Slurp Puppet" poem was an enjoyable exercise, wherein the
participants where able to hone their poetic skills. NancyGene would
write several verses a day, which I would continue/expand on. We were
pushing one another to come up with witty (or, at least, funny) lines on
    a daily basis.

I feel that I benefited from it immensely.

I'm afraid that I don't recognize your reference. Was this some
"humorous" scenario you'd made up about Dr. NancyGene in the past?

    his words... er, word?

Sorry, Michael, but I really don't want to play Monkey/Donkey with you
    on this thread.

I can't imagine how anyone could choose to engage in such a pointless
    waste of time.

Well, I admit it's no "Slurp Puppet" - but then I couldn't imagine
anyone in their right mind spending the time to write something like
    that, either.

True, that poem was pure obsessive garbage.

It certainly was. I used to think that you were Jim's obsession, but
after listening to the Lime sock rant about you for weeks, I'm starting
to think he's the one obsessed with you, and Jim just believed what the
    sock told him, as usual.

You really should consult a therapist. Canada must
provide free, or at least affordable, mental health services.

Perhaps your armchair colleague can fly in to Toronto again. Maybe this
time their balloon won't end up in the Yukon and get shot down.
