• Avatar II: How does it look?

From Ted Nolan @21:1/5 to All on Mon Dec 19 17:02:57 2022
Setting aside all the stuf about the script, politics, Cameron etc,
    how does the film look?

Is the tech noticably better than the first one? Do you believe in the
world while watching? If you are going to see it, is it worth seeing in 3D
    or IMAX?

Seems that people like it this and Top Gun will let a lot of theaters stay around another year.

The movie looks very nice. Not as breathtaking as the 1st one simply
because it looks the same in terms of visuals. I watched it in 3D and it
looked nice. I didn't think it looked particualry "better" than anything
else when it comes to 3D but again, can 3D even get better nowadays?

It seems like to only progress 3D movies can make now is in terms of environment, story etc, not technique. And the environment in Avatar 2
is IMO very very cool. I would recommend you watch it, it's one of the
only worthwhile movies screening right now

I've heard enough good stuff now that I hope to do so before it
exits the theaters (though not in 3D). It's just tough to block out
    that much time.

    You misspelled 'black out'...

(No, I haven't seen it. That's just gratuitous, unfounded snark.)

The 3D movies I've seen are dark blurry messes, like
the first Avatar in 2009. Real-D is what the theater
glasses say and it's no good. So II is no better in
    appearance?

I got through 1 hour of the dvd . I guess cartoon plots spoil my interest. I'll try the rest during winter.

Made it about 25 minutes in and ejected the disk. Looks good but story beyond idiotic.
