• GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE (no spoilers)

From moviePig@21:1/5 to All on Mon Feb 14 10:22:08 2022
Like its departed spirits, GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE returns from the
dead, but really has no place to go. The movie trudges forward in audience-anticipation of the original cast's reappearance, which is
delayed to the max and rather rote when it arrives. Though there's some
humor along the way, as well as vigorous production quality, it all
feels like less a new chapter than a reprint. Somewhat recommended.

The script's choice to make the primary protagonists
middle/high-schoolers just didn't work for me. And yeah, when the
original Ghostbusters finally appeared it was as though they'd dropped
in from a different movie, which I guess they had. This movie had a
GOONIES vibe best enjoyed, I think, by kids but not so much by me.

Yeah, this was franchise-protection ...from which, God save us.
