    No, no, no, no, no.

Yeah, I don't really see the point of going to the same bar twice in
    one night.

    Shift change for the bouncer.

Yup, I used to work with people who would have done that except Texas
makes all bars close their doors at 2 am. Don't be on the roads at 2:15
    am with them !

Living in a rural area, I find that most of my power outages
occur early sunday morning, just after two am. One fellow
managed to take out -three- distribution poles (22kv) by
    hitting a guy-wire supporting a guy-pole that supported
three mainline poles and snapped all three of the mainline
    poles.

If my FD pager went off any time after 1:30 am on a Thursday-Saturday,
there was a high probability it was a drunk hitting something that
either wasn't moving (e.g. tree, building, boulder, another car), or
wasn't moving fast enough (e.g. deer, another car, person, deer, more deer).

I was actually pulled over once responding to the fire station because,
well, because. The deputies thought I had been drinking. I had driven
past the back parking lot to Joe's Bar (actual name!) and then pulled
way up into the cross street so I could see around the parked cars. The
cops hiding behind the parked cars saw me and pulled me over. I missed
the ambulance going out, but made the next rig.

We had a drunk driver get hit head on by a sober driver on a relatively straight section of road. He was going home from the aforementioned
Joe's Bar. He was in his lane and she crossed over. She died prior to
our arrival. Here is where it gets weird. She was dressed in just a bra
and panties. We found out later that there was no alcohol or drugs
involved. The page went out at 02:05.

Three Vietnamese guys left Joe's one night and ran into a ditch. The car
is now FUBAR but they are OK. But the road is blocked for a bit to the
car pulled out of the ditch. We have an engine and an ambulance there,
along with 2 CHP cars. But we don't need the ambulance, so I send it
home. About 1 minute later I get a terse radio call, "Weaver coming."
WTF. I am standing with one of my firefighters and a Chippie and we were
all baffled. There is a flashlight, flares, and blinking warning lights
in the road. We see headlights coming. They are not slowing down. We all
three bail out and go up the embankment. The Chippie comes back down and
runs along the side of the truck banging on the window with his
flashlight. The driver stop and staggers out. Totally wasted. He's
coming from Joe's too. Obviously he is arrested. However, the driver has passengers, three angry pit bulls. So now animal control gets involved.
We now have 4 drunks, 3 angry pit bulls, 2 bemused cops, and me standing
    next to a tree.

Many years before, we had 5 nights in a row with drunk driving calls
after midnight. Friday at work, I fell asleep at my desk.

Sorry I went on so long. I am avoiding putting in a new fence post.

The vehicle was a used police interceptor crown vic.

Just last weekend, another driver snapped a different pole on
the same rural road, at the other end of the same s-curve,
but PG&E had restored power in less than three hours vs. the
28 hours it took to replace the three poles.

The farmer who owns the land along the middle part
of the s-curve has to replace his fencing on average
at least twice a year because people take that curve
way too fast. It's just down the road from a high
    school :-).
