    Narkive is a web based usenet archive:

    <https://rec.arts.sf.written.narkive.com/>

    Use:

    site:rec.arts.sf.written.narkive.com

    to search it with your favorite engine, like so:

    Depends on your newsreader, I suppose. With pan, I can search back
    as far as the NNTP provider supports (a decade or more for usenetserver.com).

    [1] So, sorry if I'm missing obvious answers.

    The rec.arts.sf.written archive on Eternal-September goes back to March
    1, 2013 for a total of over 291,000 postings. I only keep the latest
    20,000 on my office pc but all of them on my home pc. It takes
    Thunderbird about 10 seconds to load all 291,000 on my home pc.

    I am also using Eternal-September. Too bad it doesn't go any farther
    back than 2013. I'm curious: how much memory do the 291,000 postings
    take up on your home pc?

    Tony

    Hogwasher, which is a notable memory hog, has a ’subscription’ tp several rec.arts.sf groups totalling 448,171 posts going back to June 2003 right now. The Hog is eating 848 MB at the moment.

    Memory? Probably not very much.

    Disk space, a few megabytes. Peanuts on a modern system with
    a terabyte of disk space.
