Firing slugs using a linear accelerator.
Very much a prototype, it has about the punch of a .22LR,
But weighs over 20 lbs, and while multishot, requires up
to 3 seconds to recharge.
However, it is fireable from the shoulder, and runs of batteries.

That causes me to remember the very useful air rifle that
the Lewis and Clark Expedition took with them.
