I am surprised to learn that Aldiss ever wrote something that could be
considered "comedic". The one or two things of his that I tried were
so dreary that I doubt that I ever reached page 20.

"The Dark Light Years" is (darkly) comic, with a twist at the end that I utterly missed reading the first time.

It's a slim novel, and I can't figure out a way to review it without
    giving away too much.

It is rated three stars in my Calibre library but despite a quick look
at the first chapter, I do not remember it. It appears to be questioning
what is civilisation through first contact with aliens on a planet
foreign to both. Help. Yet another book to (re) read.
