    I would have liked to know a little more about what happens in the
    story. There's no Wikipedia article on it to fall back on!
    The SFE says "complex linquistic operations are used to structure
    the responses of a sidelined Earth to the greater galaxy."
    What does that mean?

    Having read the book I am in no position to answer that.

    Likewise. Excellent answer. My only memory of it was that on a
    second reading, I was able to successfully link together elements of
    the plot! I, of course, now have no memory of what those elements
    were, even glancing through it.

    If you're looking for other SF books of the same ilk, I put
    _Ratner's Star_ by Don DeLillo in the same category (though I'm not sure
    why, given the lack of memories of each.)
