Is this suppose to be Israel and Iran ?

    Perhaps.

    Or maybe Russia and Ukraine.
Or the South Sudan Civil War
    Or WW1
    Or WW2

    Modern war is astonishingly destructive.

no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks. --scott

Mr. President, we must not allow a mine-shaft gap.

I still think it funny that Peter Sellers had initially been slotted
to ride the bomb down in that famous scene at the end but while
rehearsing he had fallen off the 'bomb', fallen 15' to the floor and
had chosen to use a wheelchair for 3 weeks during filming rather than
    crutches.

Thus when he did that "Mein fuhrer I can valk!" scene just before the
finale with Vera Lynn, no one but him and Kubrick knew his doctor and
told him he could put his crutches away until he DID get out of the
wheelchair. (Apparently he told Kubrick the day before that scene was
shot and Kubrick told him not to tell anybody to give a better last
    scene for shooting)
