    Hi noble Denizens of sf.written,

The Future Falls by Tanya Huff.

Found at the SFPL-Main last week.
This is a story set in the Universe where the
Gale Family exists and they are the descendants
of the mating of a God with the female progenitor
of the Family. They have rituals to celebrate and
raise power. So they are demi/semi Powers and
various abilities including domination of the
children by their Aunts. Some of the children
are Wild Powers and this is about one Charlotte
Gale and her lover to be, Jack the Dragon Prince
Jack is both a Gale and Dragon which is very
    rare.
We have other Wild Powers, one of which
is foreseeing, the province of Aunt Catherine.
We have is a telepathic human driven to madness
by the cacophony of human thought. He is saying
the Sky is falling and it is heavy.
Some investigation by Charlotte uncovers the
fact that an unknown asteroid is going to hit the
    Earth in 22 months.
I enjoyed this story very much especially the ending.
It is 336 pages, hardcover, originally sold at $24.95
    from DAW.

    bliss - inescapable fantasy

Does anyone know of a short story or novelette where
the Gales family featured? Because I know I encountered
them before and reading the preceding volumes by Huff
about the Gales Enchantement Emporiium and the Wild
Ways tells me that I read neither of them earlier.
    "Is a puzzlement..."

bliss - who will later mention the whole 3 book series
again. None of the Gales are named Dorothy by the way...

I read this series in half reverse, the final book first then the 1st then the
2nd. I still wonder where I met the Gale family before but may they have erased that memory. ;^)

The Gale Family, a wonderful invention of Tanya Huff

The main players are introduced in 'The Enchantment Emporium' which is a
shop which serves the member of the community interested in YoYos and
the Fae of Calgary. The Gales save the world and the main character,
Ayosha Gale establishes a new outpost of the Family as well as removing a
wild male Gale who has become a sorcerer accumulating power which the
senior Gale women do not approve of and the father of Jack Gale,
    the Dragon Prince.

In the next volume "The Wild Ways" the players reappear but with more emphasis
on Jack Gale, the Dragon Prince and Charlotte Gale, a Bard, who can
    travel thru
space and time in the Wood. An oil company is putting pressure on an
    Selky
    environmental group.

The whole short 3 book series is well worth the time.

    bliss
