Tell me how you do a regeneration scene without doing a regeneration scene.
What if ... the next Doctor has not been cast yet, and Billie Piper is playing the Moment in a call back to the Watcher in Logopolis. The next Doctor then emerges from her at the start of the next episode.
This allows RTD to film Ncuti's departure before casting his successor. I'm currently hoping this is all a gimmick. Because I'm not sure I can cope
with Billie as the Doctor - I'm still disappointed that they wasted Archie Panjabi as the Rani. She was top of my list for the next female Doctor.

It's time for Russell T Davies to resign as show runner.

We will be waiting a long time for a resignation... better
for someone to punt him out the door, and onto the street; and
take the "writing room" with him. It's a classic case of
"what have you done for me [BBC] lately?". Well, lately he's
driven viewers away from the show like a bad fart clears out
an elevator/lift.

He needs to do the right thing and let somebody with new ideas
step forward and take over as showrunner... with the writing
handed out to proper writers. Ideally, a new showrunner with no
Doctor Who history who can look at the show as a clean slate.
If your idea of a big bad Doctor Who villain in 2023 is the
Toymaker, in 2024 it's Sutekh and in 2025, Omega. Then you are
well past your sell by date. It's stale, been done before, and
the younger generation neither know about them or care.

Notable, it didn't say Billie Piper as The Doctor in the
credits, so there is a small glimmer of hope that Rose Tyler
isn't the 16th Doctor. However, Ncuti's Doctor did regenerate in
to a female with her likeness. So... ???

Don't be surprised *if* they bring David Tennant back yet again. They
ran out of sensible ideas at least two 'Doctors' ago.

TBH at this point, I’d rather keep Billie Piper as the Doctor
and replace RTD.

Surprised? I'd put money on it.
The surprise will be if they don't!!!

Yeah, another female Doctor would be too much for you I know...
fortunately, I don't think you'll have to worry too much.
Although the quicker it gets resolved the better. I'd hate
you to have your mind troubled over it for years whilst
we await the resolution...

What did I forget there, Watcher in Logopolis?
Throughout Logopolis, a mysterious white figure kept appearing in the
distance. Then at the end when Tom fell off of Jodrell Bank's big radio
scope and regenerated, the figure (the Watcher) merged with the Doctor and send to be some sort of ghostly dula or midwife for the regeneration,
leading Teagn to declare with some sort of miraculaous Oracular knowledge "The Watcher was the Doctor all along!"
The idea of midwiving regeneration was actually introduced in Planet of the
Spiders when Kan Po's next incarnation, Cho Je, was present as some sort of psychic projection all the way through the story till the regeneration actually occurred.
On reflection, there's actually a better callback that could be taking place
here - Destiny of the Daleks.
Ncuti's is the first voluntary regeneration that any Doctor we've seen has
ever had. Maybe, like Romana when she regenerated just becasue she was
bored (read, Tom insisted that his new girlfriend should replace Mary
Tamm), the Doctor is going to be able to experiment with new faces and
bodies before settling into the one that will be the Doctor we will refer
to as 16? And they're just trying Rose on for size?
If Moffat is writing a Christmas Special I can imagine a sort of reboot of
the Curse of Fatal Death being canonised, where lots of names fans have
been kicking around the Internet get to be the Doctor for 5 minutes each before someone nobody thought of or wanted gets the part. Cue Richard E Grant, Lydia West, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Gillian
Anderson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kris Marshall, David Tennant AGAIN!, Paul
McGann, Keeley Hawes etc for moments each as the Doctor alongside Billie
...
