I see a common thread developing here in fandoms; some longtime
fans don't like the modern versions of television shows/movies
they liked as a child. This is actually quite normal. It is
called getting old... and we all know that nothing is as good as
it was when we were young.
Fortunately, Father Time has a cure for this ailment.

Sometimes it is simply the fan growing out of the franchise.
It is also often the new people making the more "modern" versions that
make ridiculous ill-fitting changes because they think they know better
than the person who had the actual creative talent to make the
original. This doesn't just happen in TV and movies, but also happens
in comic books and novels where there is a long running series taken
over by new people. Plus these days there are the inevitable silly
changes to appease the "Politically Correct" fools.
One great example is the live-action (so-called) "Thunderbirds" movie. >Jonathan Frakes (Commander Riker in "Star Trek: The Next Generation")
was given the job of making the movie, but he knew absolutely nothing
about the original show, watched a couple of episodes, and then
*thought* he knew it all ... which he obviously didn't, because the
movie is absolute rubbish with all sort sof ridiculous idiocy in it.
The superhero franchises are another example. The original fairly
simple style has become far darker and more violent, in both the comic
books and the movies.

It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with getting old. It all has
to do with a bunch of perverted woke activists taking over these

Watch this video which discusses how a gay activist took over The Wheel
of Time and made it all about himself and his gay agenda instead of the
about the main protagonist in the books who he sidelined and replaced
with other minor characters all of whom he turned gay or lesbian which
they were not portrayed as in the books.

How many young Doctor Who fans do you know that moan about the
show? A lot of it is the older fans who don't like the modern
direction of the show. So I do think some of it is people
getting old and wanting the show to be like it was when they
were younger.
It all has to do with a bunch of perverted woke activists
taking over these franchises and using them to attack men and

Some people agree with your point of view, obviously, but in the
real world I know nobody who uses the term "woke garbage" to
describe "Doctor Who" or claim the show is produced to "sexually
groom" children. My own children have stopped watching the show
at various times during the past two years, not once have they
said anything about perversions or wokeness being the reason...
they just don't find it entertaining and have better things toDaniel70
do with their time. The younger generation have shorter
attention spans these days. If a show doesn't grab them, they'll
move on to something else. They wouldn't have the same loyalty
that us older fans would.

<Snip>
If a franchise jumps the shark and doesn't appeal to some people"jumps the shark" is a reference to a "Happy Days" episode in which
anymore, turn it off. Simples.
"The Fonz" on his motorbike jumps a pool containing a shark.
Back in the 50's/60's as 'represented' in the show) weird things were
being done on motorbikes .... like "Evil" Knievel jumping Canyons,
chains of Cara/Buses, etc.
Why is such a "big" thing made about 'jumps the shark'??
Because many felt that the particular episode marked the beginning of
the decline and end of the show.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070992/?ref_=fn_all_ttl_1
So something happening in the Fifth Season WASN'T FATAL or any where
near it!

Because from that point on the show started resorting to stupid gimmicks
in order to bring in viewers instead of good writing.
Some might suggest THAT happened when DoctorBill changed into DoctorPat!

And many have done that.
Yes, they have... including some people in my own family. I
have no problem with anyone doing that. It's not a crime to
dislike "Doctor Who".
People not watching something they don't like is the sensible
option.
People continually watching something that they don't like is
not sensible... at all.
But they're probably not interested in being Greatest Poster All-Time, >though!

And the franchise goes down the drain.

I think a second TARDIS being created from the Doctor's TARDIS
by the bang of a hammer was a "jumped the shark" moment in the
show for me...
Well, at the time it was actually a WTF moment... but following
the bigeneration scene a bit earlier in that episode I think I
just ended up laughing out loud at the craziness of the ideas.
