Please stop cross-posting your verbal diarrhea to rec.arts.sf.fandom.

them from readng or posting to that newsgroup.
If it continues, don't complain if soon the majority of posts in *this* newsgroup consist of my repeatedly posting the above.

Quit your whining/whinging, and learn how to use a killfile,
or the "Ignore Thread" function in your news reader if bothers
you that much.
Can't do that? Then get a new news reader. There are many
good readers out there that can do this, and they are free;
Mozilla Thunderbird for one.

Sorry, but using your killfile is pretty much the best way to
control what you want to read on Usenet.
A filter to block any thread started by 'The Doctor' (and its

There's no such thing as an "inadvertent x-post". You damn
well know that yads crossposts invariably. You damn well know
that any followup to yads is troll feeding and never on topic,
but you do it anyway. You damn well know that you, the author,

Keith F. Lynch made a reasonable request. No one wants yads
nor any of yads' nonstop troll feeders on Usenet. You ruin

I have to read this newsgroup, or at least glance at the index

crossposted contamination in the rest of Usenet.

Cutting the crosspost IF they feel the newsgroup concerned is
not the place for that post. "Doctor Who" is a sci-fi [ish]

I don't subscribe to streaming and haven't watched any of the
episodes ordered by Disney+.

I don't want to shift him. I read what he writes and reply
with my opinion. That's how Usenet works. If he doesn't like
my opinion he can reply accordingly, ignore what I have to
say, or block me. How he enjoys Usenet is his choice.
Adam should blow a gasket over that one.

Usenet has always needed killfiles, which is why they are an
integral part of any newsreader. The Google Groups spam might
have ceased, but there will always be a need for people
to tailor their own Usenet experience... being able to use a
killfile or configure a filter is an essential part of that.
WEll and then there are those with more power.
Every Usenet user has the power to read, or not read, any
article they choose. The power is in the hands of the user and
everyone's experience here is on them. Nobody else.
If anybody cannot use a newsreader to block people like you, or
me even, all they have to do is ask and somebody would surely
help them achieve their aims.

Why? My opinion is reasonable position... I am down on nobody
and I will engage with anybody who chooses to use Usenet as
their preferred format for discussing things. All I can express
is my opinion... I am not here to state anyone else's.

Agreed. I think on it like this: one goes to the newsstand and buys a
copy of The Times (or we can say the online version since The Times has
a presence there). It is very rare that one reads every single article
in the entire paper...usually reading the article titles, and skipping
the articles that do not interest them. Usenet works the same way, and
the user has the ability to exclude posters that they do not care for
(unlike the newspaper).

As I've said before, at this point if someone doesn't know how to use >killfiles or thread filters...they don't want to know how to use them,
and won't take the 30 seconds to learn.
