    It seems that actual dead tree versions of the strip have also been
    similarly surgically altered. I'm informed that The Washington Post
    print edition is also missing that panel.

    Also in the Gannett Sunday Comics Section
    which prints Beetle in the quarter page (closer to sixth page these days) format.
    I would have guessed the 11 inch wide section doesn't have room to
    print the title vertically as they used to, necessitating the dropping of a panel,
    but Hagar runs all eight original panels with a vertical title strip.

    They could save more space just by converting from GIF (!!!) to PNG.
