    but it’s been around for about twenty years, and I, myself, can testify
    the phenomenon is real enough.

    Well if the OED only has 600,000 words in it, it is hardly the
    definitive authority on the English language. Do I have to mention
    James Nicoll and his 3,000,000 stolen words ?

    I suspect that it has come into the public's awareness through its use
    by Sandra Bullock's character in the recent movie "The Lost City".

    In my world, the word is established enough that it had time to become unsalvageable (being interpreted as "I look down on less educated
    people".)
