I've pondered this too as more has been learned about CTE.....but as I did the same issue comes back.

What can offer all the young men who are blessed with the talent to excel in this sport....a similar opportunity? I don't believe it's our choice to make.

Astronauts sit on the nose of rockets for far less personal reward and we all cheer them on to push the bounds of human kind into space.
Consider all the talk about colonizing mars. A trek whose first efforts are most likely a one way trip ending in early demise from the radiation exposure they will surely face. Yet we still have more people than can ever be accommodated willing to
    sign up for early doom.

That said I certainly don't watch as much football as I once did but mostly due to the Chargers ownership trying to extort $$ from SD and then leaving town rather than accepting what the city could offer.

In any case the "blame game" is too simple and the saviors can just as quickly become the punishers.

Whatabout all those brave men, women and inbetweeners that risk the perils of gender assignment surgeries? Aren' they as heroic as astronauts, Mars colonizers and football players?

    Nah, they're just duped.
