• An odd poll

From ScottW@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jun 6 19:28:18 2023
A new poll out this week found that just 39 percent of California's likely voters support the idea of a reparations task force.

I guess they couldn't stomach the response to what people thought of the recommendations of that task force.

But never fear....dems plan to make this their issue for decades to come.

Lisa Holder, task force member, said she’s optimistic about the task force’s potential to make long-term cultural changes. “It's going to take decades to reverse centuries of damage,” she said. “It's absurd to approach this as a short-term
    project.”

    Isn't that great?

yes, once they begin, they will never end.
400 years from now we will be paying them.

We'll be Eloi and they will be Morlocks.....
but who will be the Uber-Morlock?
    Descendants of clan Pelosi.

They "couldn't stomach the results" of a task force that hasn't even
    been formed?

I guess it's progress you assume examination of damages to enslaved
people and their descendants would inevitably lead to uncomfortable conclusions.

You know the Eloi were the parasites and the Morlocks were the builders?
How this relates to slavery and class relations I'll leave to you to
    figure out.

Pardon the bad quote: They "couldn't stomach" the results of a task
force that hasn't even been formed?

I admit that sentence required more parsing than I gave it. Is it about
what people thought about the recommendations of the task force? or is
it about people who "couldn't stomach" what other people thought about
the recommendations of the task force? Or just the idea of a task force?

The task force hasn't been formed so there are no recommendations to
    stomach.

Gotta hand to the the right for their ability to crank out noise polls.
On the plus side, Rasmussen caused Scott Adams to self-destruct:

The commentator is nut-job safe to read, if his Target-boycotting and utilitarian ethics are any guide.

Funny...how did a 40 chapter draft report be created by a task force that hasn't even been formed?

Eloi were farmers/hunters/gatherers above ground who built their homes on cliffs walls.
Morlocks "harvested" them and were slaves to the Uber-Morlock.

Piano teachers are more a parasite than Eloi...taking from society and giving little value in return.

Sounds like a bad poll question. Maybe "what do you think of the
existing reparations task force" would have fit the facts better.

"The Eloi live a banal life of ease on the surface of the Earth while
the Morlocks live underground, tending machinery and providing food,
clothing, and inventory for the Eloi. The narration suggests that the separation of species may have been the result of a widening split
between different social classes. With all their needs and desires
perfectly fulfilled, the Eloi have slowly become dissolute and naive:
they are described as smaller than modern humans, with shoulder-length
curly hair, pointed chins, large eyes, small ears, small mouths with
bright red thin lips, and sub-human intelligence. They do not perform
much work, except to feed, play, and mate, and are characterized by
apathy; and when Weena falls into a river, none of the other Eloi help
her (she is rescued instead by the Time Traveller). Periodically, the
Morlocks capture individual Eloi for food; and because this typically
happens on moonless nights, the Eloi are terrified of darkness."
