I ordered iolo system mechanic in hopes of cleaning up the junk auto loading my PC. It had some decent reviews but first....
It did help a very little bit...but didn't clean up the trash starting.
Then they used my cc to set up a recurring payment for tech support I didn't want. It wasn't that hard to get it discontinued...I hope. They said they were charging me 19.95 and then the cancellation notice I won't be charged 49.95.

Oh well...not half as bad as microsoft telling me the symptoms of needing a new computer and then offering to sell me one includes long boot times. They're the source of all those startup crap that is causing me long boot times.

Ever try open source operating systems?

No, but I know some software geeks who do and they still have a windows machine
for work. It's not a good option for a working machine unless you enjoy spending
hours setting up drivers etc. to make it work. It's cool for them to really know how things
work but it's not much of an option for someone who just wants it to work.

Hold on, Spectrum tech support is calling me again.

Getting things to work is a moving target. I made the mistake of
updating my music server software, losing functionality, only to find my
new operating system won't let me reinstall an older version that works.

    Good luck!
