I think it's complete BS and they should be strung up by congress and ratted out as 1st amendment violators.

Beware the algorithms controlling what you can read.

    And no...I'm not gonna subscribe.

Okay. Did google make it so only the first three pages of search results
are redundant right wing sites instead of the first five?

    And no...I'm not gonna subscribe.

    To what?

Since when does the 1st amendment only apply to gov't?

Nope....and it's their dominant on-line advertising control that is the problem.
Did you read the link? Obviously not.

Here....you get one spoonful of medicine.

"A good chunk of our editors’ meetings at PJ Media (and all across the Townhall Media network) is now devoted to the latest reports we have on which of our articles were demonetized by Google. If one of our writers wants to report on climate change,
COVID, transgenderism, or election integrity — or even use those terms in an article — it can get snared in Google’s predatory algorithms, which flag our reporting as “unreliable and harmful” or even “dangerous or derogatory.” We are then
punished for daring to report on those topics by having our articles stripped of ads."

The complaint is google no longer favors their speech by paying for it?
Some free marketers there at pjmedia!

If your cites are representative, those descriptions do apply.

You're right. Time for a revision to the amendment.
Protecting the right of someone to stand in town square and say pretty much whatever they want
is no longer sufficient protection and free from gov't is no longer sufficient. We need to extend the first amendment to protection
against on-line advertisers and ISPs and hosts.
The problem with google is they don't just restrict advertisers who don't want to be associated with whatever.....they eliminate
all advertising on that page if they don't like it. That needs to stop.

It's even worse. In looking at how a website could get around google as a gatekeeper I see this.

The simplest way is to use your server-side scripting language to randomly display either ad network one or ad network 2.

"However, it's important to check the Terms of Use for each ad provider to see if the ad networks are compatible. Google, in particular, is a little feisty about what kind of ads they want used in conjunction with AdSense."

So google not only punishes a site for their content but for also engaging a competitor ad network.

Google should have no say on what you do in your space...period. If product advertisers don't want their ads to appear on your site...fine, Google can control that.
But if the advertiser doesn't object...then google should not have that authority.

Never let it be said that there are no stupid questions.

    "Amendment I

    duh.

You're right. Time for a revision to the amendment.

No, stupid. The Constitution DEFINES the powers of government, and
nothing else. You should eat less rocks.

Yes, let's have the government you hate crack down on free speech. Great idea, moron.

google can pay whatever they want for whatever reason. Not paying
