"The Biden-Harris administration today announced its approval of the
Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) commercial project – the fifth
approval of a commercial-scale, offshore wind energy project under
President Biden’s leadership. Today’s announcement supports the Administration’s goal of deploying 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030, following the approval of the Vineyard Wind 1, South
Fork Wind, Ocean Wind 1, and Revolution Wind projects. When completed,
these five projects will collectively add more than 5 gigawatts of
clean, renewable energy to our nation’s grid, enough to power more than
    1.75 million homes."

    Thanks, Joe!

Ocean Wind 1 just lost its developer.
No mention of Wind 2 which is also kaput.

It's so easy to declare a project approved and have morons applaud
when in reality they never produce a single watt but did manage to suck up some
federal tax dollars in futile planning expenses.

No need to mention it, then.

NJ is getting $100 million in default money. The reason to applaud is
that building wind power is a desirable goal so approval is a positive
    step in making it happen.

Also easy: crowing when anything fails. Like this:

    https://grist.org/climate-energy/from-peak-to-plummet-in-15-years-coal-continues-its-precipitous-decline/

The deal is that coal power is bad due to carbon and pollution, so this "precipitous decline" is good.

And wind in general is increasing and presently generates 10% or so of electricity in the US.

As if that's a great sign for this industry. Better they default before the whale carcasses litter their shores
    than after.

    The reason to applaud is
that building wind power is a desirable goal so approval is a positive

As far as I can tell...nothing's been built. Just money and time wasted.

Thanks for fracking....wind has little to do with it.

And wind in general is increasing and presently generates 10% or so of electricity in the US.

There's been zero growth in electricity generation in the US for about 20 years.
That is not good for an economy looking to put it's heavy energy load of transportation
    on the grid.

Why is wind 1 on your list? How many of these "approved projects"

It's a quote, so not "my list." I'll get back to you in 2030, the date indicated for delivering wind power.

Do most energy projects produce power the day they're approved?

It's so easy to declare a project approved and have morons applaud

Denmark has lots of offshore wind power and no whale carcass problem.

    The reason to applaud is
that building wind power is a desirable goal so approval is a positive
    step in making it happen.

As far as I can tell...nothing's been built. Just money and time wasted.

What, there's no wind power at all? Just 10% of all electricity generated.

Also easy: crowing when anything fails. Like this:

Thanks for fracking....wind has little to do with it.

Doesn't matter, as I didn't say wind drove out coal. Coal needs to be gone.

And wind in general is increasing and presently generates 10% or so of
    electricity in the US.

Indeed. They continue to build in the US, for instance Revolution Wind.
They have many projects in the rest of the world both in operation and
    in development.
