    and if they really wanted to comply with their data retention
    requirements by law....they could easily stipulate to their contract
    provider to retain the text content. Verizon does this for 3 days
    minimum so any provider could do it. That could easily be archived
    as permanent....but they wiped their phones and then say "oops".
