Didn't realize batteries were low. Machine
turned off during firmware update. Now it
hangs on the splash screen during boot. Any hope?

    Thanks!

That's bad. Factory repair might be able to do something... there may be a
way to do the firmware update either by swapping the EEPROM chip out or by setting some magic jumper inside that causes it to reload the EEPROM from
an outside source. But it's not going to be something that your neighborhood tech can do.

Always be very careful about firmware updates on anything... don't ever do
it unless you have to, and if you have to always do it on AC power.

I don't suppose there is a 'reset' connection anywhere? Two pads that
can be bridged to force it to return to a starting point?

Also considering a bus powered audio interface that
    would work with Android.

    Thanks!

It being Saturday I did a more intensive search for
information about this. It turns out that the HD-P2
does have a backup of the factory firmware. I'll
outline how to use it here, so that some future
solution seeker might be able to find it.

Hold Display and Play while turning unit on. It goes
    into a self diagnostic mode.

Hold Project and Stop buttons while turning on device.
It boots from a stored copy of the shipped firmware.
Now you still have to install the firmware as usual
from the System menu or you'll have to do this each
    time you boot.

So the HD-P2 lives to fight another day.
