• homemade windshield rain repellant recipe

From AK@21:1/5 to All on Sat Sep 3 11:40:58 2022
Does anyone have a homemade windshield rain repellent recipe?

I am looking for something equivalent to the RainX that you apply directly to your windshield. And buff it off.

I have been using Turtle Hard Shell wax.

I did a search, but all the recipes use a variation of rubbing alcohol and water.

    Thanks,
    Andy

An old boss once told me to smear a cut potato on the windshield,
let it dry, then buff off. I never tried it.
I quit using rain repellents years ago and prefer wipers.
Windshield rain repellents are somewhat ok if the clouded out sun is
overhead or behind you and the rain is heavy, and at night if there are absolutely no streetlights or oncoming car lights. Repellents AND
    wipers don't mix well.

I have never had the problems you have had with rain repellants.

Since you have to use the windshield wipers less often, it makes them last a little longer.

    True.
But it's the Texas sun and Houston O-Zone that ruins mine.

That's true. The pollution from all those plants along US 225 worry me.

    The sun is very powerful.

Years ago, I was a white cotton outfit.

It was slow to dry and ended up with rust stains near some decorative buckles.

I found a tip but was skeptical.

I put lemon juice and salt on the rust stains and put it in the sun for a few hrs.

    No more rust.
