    One little-parreciated factoid -- Mercury is the closest planet
    to Earth. On average.
    It zips around so fast it spends more time closer to Earth
    than nay other planet.
    But then it is also the closest planet to Saturn and Pluto
    by the same logic. ;)

    Yet although Mercury is "downhill" a trip there isn't easy, slowing to Mercury's orbital velocity requires more fuel than reaching Jupiter.
