The wrapping up of World War II.

Studied US Civil War and Military History for 60 years Sun
I just watched a short video of a Muslim man claiming that the USA
bombed Nagasaki although 75% of the Japanese Generals were ready to
surrender. If this really happened, why was it necessary?
Oh I disagree.
I’d say about 99% of Japanese Generals were ready to agree to end the
war. In fact, the war could have been ended by surrender in the spring
of 1945.
Like broad sweeping generalizations in propaganda its designed to
mislead, and NOT inform. Truth, and propaganda maintain a love hate relationship.
The object of this statement is to engender hatred against the United
Staes, with a specific target audience in mind.
In this case, propaganda beat down the truth, and swore it, not that
other idea was the truth.
It’s just how do you define surrender?
Here is how the War Minister General Anami and the Army Chief of staff
were willing to surrender on these 3 conditions. It was called “Plan B.”
No occupation of Japan. Japan to disarm its own military.
Japan to retain its current form of government with the Emperor’s powers intact.
Japan to prosecute its own war criminals.
Pretty much Weimar 2.0, and we know what happened about 20 years after
that “Surrender” or as it was called an armistice.
Fair use under copyright laws-
Not the desired result, was it?
But but but, you next hear-
But Japan was defeated in all but name.
Well yes, it was.
Just three problems with that-
Generals Anami, Umezu, and the Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Toyoda.
On August 10, 1945, AFTER Hiroshima, and word was received in a meeting
of the Supreme War Council of the USSR declaration of war, and the
second bomb, at Nagasaki-
General Anami said, to the Prime Minister
Without these three conditions (As noted above), field officers could
not be counted on to comply with a surrender order. We still have
fighting power left and cannot be said to be defeated. If the enemy
lands here it will give us a favorable chance to crush them. We are
making the preparations. We must resolve to find life in death and fight
the decisive battle. But if it is possible to end the war with Plan B,
we shall be ready to accept it.
Then General Umezu spoke up.
We cannot promise victory but we are not yet defeated. We are aware the
War situation is difficult, but with the determination of 100 million
people, and with further preparations, it might be possible to find life
in death. The Potsdam Declaration (The allied terms to end the war) is dead.
Admiral Toyoda’s views were similar.
To put it succinctly-
Victory and/or Death.
These three gentlemen were willing to actively participate in the
complete destruction of their own leader, and the entire nation, to
maintain the reputation of the army.
Behind them stood the younger less senior officers of the Imperial Headquarters, and the Imperial Guards Division who guarded the Emperor’s person and his palace.
OK, btw, the Prime Minister could not order anyone in the military to do anything. The military, under the Japanese Meji constitution, made the
Emperor the exclusive leader of both of Japan’s services.
It took the only person who could order all three to accept the Potsdam Declaration
THAT was how the war ended. To paraphrase the premise of the question
It took 100% of the Japanese Emperor’s to end World War 2.
