Even more vitriolic than the invective here on RBT, reader comments in
NYC after every article about the recent explosion of bicycle lanes in
the city are a flood of hate for cyclists.

yeah....but I bet they don't call them "herberts" lol

    And on the same page:
"A Basingstoke man suffered an unprecedented hardship this morning
when he discovered his car windows covered in frost and, to his
horror, realised he had run out of de-icer, forcing him to manually
scrape the ice off like some sort of 18th-century peasant."

"an unprecedented hardship"! Life must be Hell in G.B. :-)

    It is a joke site!

This said I do feel smug using my car which is an old Volvo and thus has
very strong heating and so frosty windows are essentially start car,
waiting briefly for the car to clear it!

No scraping required, clearly the bike is even less of hindrance!

They don't have your bright green snakes, so the scale is

I'm happy that you're happy but you merely have cool, not
    actual cold.

At moment it’s definitely just cool was below freezing yesterday on way to work at dawn but clear and sunny last few days which tends to make it feel warmer than the absolute temperatures, but London and South East England weather is even for Uk rather mild.

Snow is a fairly uncommon event was some mild bits in the woods hence
London has so few snowplows, mattter of handful so if it does snow the transport network struggles bar the underground and so on.

On the whole London and area doesn’t cope well if and when it snows, my
wife used to proudly say on “Roger will pick me up” as Wales does regularly get snow even now so I learnt to drive in snow growing up and wasn’t
    troubled by it.

I remember a new boy started at school and was excited as we’d had snow so was assuming snow day! We said no the school buses come from a good 1000ft higher than the bus stop and are higher than the School it’s self and would need to many feet of snow before they’d call it a day!
