• Blood Pressure Meds

    From Mark J cleary@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jun 22 13:54:14 2025
I take BP meds and have my whole life since age 14. It is very rare that
a teenager would get HBP but I was one who did. THey did all sorts of
testing back in the 1970's but medicine has come along way.

I take 100 ml of Losartan and have for years. It works and not a beta
blocker to knock my heart rate down and generally does not have and
effect on exercise but I wonder.

Anyone here take BP meds and notice an effect riding? I cannot say that
I do since I have always taken. Years ago they had me on other stuff
    that did effect my running.

Beta blockers definitely lower your ability to exercise.
    Losartan not so much.
They never found the cause? Weird.

My doctor, since my stroke, has me on a statin. These are not blood perssure meds but anticholeterols drugs. I have always had slightly high cholesterol but since the HDL was 4 times the LDL the doctor never never worried about it. I think that my stroke
wasn't from anything new but from my original injury and my very high heart rate from the very hard climb shaking something loose that caused the stroke. My climbing is going to continue and I wonder if the statins will reduce the chance of another
stroke since my left eye has not recovered completely from the stroke.
