The USA was certainly going to pot under whoever was running the

Sorry, that's pure invention. Didn't happen.

"warnings were issued about the potential for flash flooding
hours before the waters reached their peak."

"All NWS flash flood warnings, including the one issued
after midnight on Friday, trigger Wireless Emergency Alerts,
the emergency push notification sent through cellphone
towers to all wireless phones in the emergency area, Fogarty
said. That warning was updated nine times throughout Friday,
each of which triggered separate alerts through the
Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alerts,
    Fogarty said.

"The most serious warning came at 4:03 a.m. when the NWS
issued a flash flood emergency, warning of an “extremely
dangerous and life-threatening situation” and urging
immediate evacuations to higher ground. Flash flood
emergencies are issued using a mixture of rainfall data and
    on-the-ground reports"

Per Greg Waller, service coordination hydrologist with the
NWS West Gulf River Forecast Center in Fort Worth:

“We had adequate staffing. We had adequate technology,”
Waller said. “This was us doing our job to the best of our
    abilities.”

" independent meteorologist working in Texas echoed that
statement, writing on his website that “we have seen
absolutely nothing to suggest that current staffing or
budget issues within NOAA and the NWS played any role at all
    in this event.”

    The above taken from:

    https://www.texastribune.org/2025/07/05/texas-hill-country-floods-warning-forecast-nws/

    Specifically addressing your concern: https://www.usbordernews.com/p/texas-flood-warnings-were-ignored-with-deadly-results

There were NWS telephone alerts issued but almost no one
checked their telephone in late evening/early morning.
(flood crest was around 4am). More on warnings:

Kern County has been unable to convince voters that an
upgraded sensor/ siren warning system ought to be levied on
    them: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/investigations/article/kerr-county-texas-warning-system-upgrade-costs-20603296.php

Nearby Comal county, with such a [10-year old] system, had
    zero deaths: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/investigations/article/kerr-county-texas-warning-system-upgrade-costs-20603296.php

There was a weather warning for 6 inches of rain. This warning was
    clearly totally adequate.
Every rookie can estimate the amount of rain in an extremely challenging weather pattern with the same level of accuracy, you don't need senior specialists for that.

    Rolf

PS: in Germany 2021, the weather warnings were completely correct but
ignored by the local administration because "it's not plausible that
there is a sudden rainfall double of everything reported" (the last
flood that size was 1805 and there are no records of rainfall from that
    time).

Step 1) Loss of Personell due to DOGE is well documented

Step 2) I do not claim "insufficient number of warnings" but "warnings estimating the amount of rainfall seriously wrong"

Step 3) Putting these claims into a clear issue-cause relationship is a
priori impossible because history is not repeatable. Asking any weather forecaster "what amount of rain would you have estimated in this
situation?" would give purely speculative answers.

Local policy and systems vary. The adjacent Comal County
with sirens linked to sensors had zero deaths*.

The national warning system relayed to telephones in the
area may have helped, except that people were sleeping and
so did not read the telephone warnings, which were timely.

*similar to my area which has tornado sirens. Much more
effective than telephone alerts, especially for people like
me with no walk-around telephone. But more expensive, such
that Kerr County voters passed on that proposal, repeatedly.

The problem is that you believe the Slime Stream Media. The National Weather Service had the SAME number of people in the office as is normal in expected foul weather - 6 on duty where in normal weather they have 2.

Furthermore the LOCAL branch of the Nation Weather Service ASKED the people in that section of Texas to install a weather warning siren system and the PEOPLE suffering under Biden Hyper Inflation voted it down.

The Nation weather service PRECISELY predicted the rain fall in that area snd the higher rainfzall in the upstreazm area.

Believing ANYTHING that comes from ABC or the Democvrats is simply foolish because every single bit of the name calling from those sources is an outright lie. How many times does it take to have the leftist lies explained to you until you stop believing
    their false claims?

Rolf, what are you talking about this for? You do not know any of the people that were cut by DOGE or why. Is there some reason that you're talking about this? Is there some reason that you will believe any left wing claims when you know nothing about it

DODE fired only incompotent DEI employees that were deamed of no use to their superiors. The NWS has been seeking competent workes since Obama came into office and presentoly are 155 members short and cannot find competent members. Do you or do you not
think that people that actually know what they are doing is more important than hiring under DEI pwople that are just filling space?

And NONE of that effects the fact the the 6-8 inches of local rain was predicted and accurate and the 10-12 inches of rain upstream was accurately predicted and there was NO MEANS of getting that information out in the middle of the night. Do YOU wake up

No need to wake up every 15 minutes to check the weather. Instead,
there are receivers and decoders which can wake you. SAME receivers
have been available for about 30 years in various forms: <https://www.google.com/search?q=same%20weather%20radio%20receiver&udm=2> <https://midlandusa.com/collections/at-home1/products/wr-120-weather-radio> <https://www.amazon.com/s?k=s.a.m.e%20radio> <https://cdn.accentuate.io/81031332017/1623358847721/HH54-Manual.pdf> <http://www.thuneagle.com/brochures/AE400-012209.pdf>

Or, you can build your own: <https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/si4707-hookup-guide/all>
    (retired)

Most of the USA has NWR (NOAA Weather Radio) coverage which includes
the SAME (Specific Area Message Encoder) severe weather alerting
    system.
    <https://www.weather.gov/fwd/sameweatherradios> <https://www.weather.gov/nwr/eventcodes>

NWR coverage and status for the state of Texas: <https://www.weather.gov/nwr/stations?State=TX> <https://www.weather.gov/nwr/states_dyn?state=TX>
When there's a warning, the normally silent receiver belches some
obnoxious tones followed by a voice description of why you were
awakened in the middle of the night.

I have two SAME receivers (one for backpack and the other for the
house). That house receiver is powered by a 12V AGM battery which
    should last about a week.

You will, anything to keep the idiots from
    noticing America is
going to pot (not cannabis, that's a good thing -
    ask jeesus).
        The source? Ah, Fox "News".
        LOL

The USA was certainly going to pot under whoever
    was running the
autopen under the last administration. It may last
    a bit longer now
that those fools have been brushed aside.

Sure, sack all weather forecasters and then be
    surprised about the lack
    of weather warnings ....

    Where was that done?

In Texas, the senior specialist for weather warnings
    was kicked out by
    DOGE in April.

This obviously had no impact whatsoever on the
    quality of weather warnings.

<LOL> All you have to do is document that there were
    insufficient
warnings that were do to a loss of personnel because
    of DOGE.

There was a weather warning for 6 inches of rain.  This
    warning was
    clearly totally adequate.
Every rookie can estimate the amount of rain in an
    extremely challenging
weather pattern with the same level of accuracy, you
    don't need senior
    specialists for that.

All you have to do is document that there were insufficient
warnings that were due to a loss of personnel because of
    DOGE.

Step 1) Loss of Personell due to DOGE is well documented

Step 2) I do not claim "insufficient number of warnings"
    but "warnings
estimating the amount of rainfall seriously wrong"

Step 3) Putting these claims into a clear issue-cause
    relationship is a
priori impossible because history is not repeatable.
    Asking any weather
forecaster "what amount of rain would you have estimated
    in this
situation?" would give purely speculative answers.

In other words, you can't back up the story the media has
    been
    telling.

In other words, you are over-interpreting the news stories.
To my knowledge nobody claimed that there is a clear issue-
cause relationship between the DOGE cuts and the imprecise
    weather warning.

Every claim was that the DOGE cuts were "likely
instrumental" or "not helping" which is a significantly
lower standard of proof than you require.

Beyond the various local conditions in Kerr County (200+
dead) and Colmar County (zero dead), there's also
ineptitude, an always present factor in any government
    operation:

It might not have been a good thing, but it does not seem to have been
the cause of the recent disaster in Texas, according to some who are
familiar with the weather service and have objected to cuts:

    Rolf

PS: in Germany 2021, the weather warnings were completely correct but
ignored by the local administration because "it's not plausible that
there is a sudden rainfall double of everything reported" (the last
flood that size was 1805 and there are no records of rainfall from
    that time).

There was a "life threatening" flash flood warning in effect:

Regarding the local and specific nature of such things, I
was listening to Texas local radio news early today before
my ride and learned that the nearby Camp La Junta was able
to rescue 380 boys during the flood, including counselors
swimming with young campers on their shoulders. None lost.

Same NWS warnings, same telephone service, same county with

involved), same general population size and similar age
distribution, same river, similar layout and construction.
