There are several routes too and from Crow Canyon Rd. Yesterday on the return trip I rode over Fairmont Hill. While there is a slightly higher and easier climb, I decided to take the harder route. I had ridden pretty hard up Crow Canyon and was pretty
tired so I was thinking of stopping all of the way up Fairmont but managed to hold off until the top of the climb. I drank some water but nowhere near the amount that it said I should when I saved the ride.
But There is nowhere to stop anymore on the ride so it is 27 miles without stopping and tht 7% ride up the backsid4e of Fairmont hill sent my heart rate up to 150 bpm and dropped my aveage soeed by 1.5 mph. 150 is 10 bpm over my recommended max, though
it is 15 bpm below my max on the north side of Palomares.
I rode the DeRosa Idol disc bi with the Ultegra group and a 34 tooth low gear. Last time I ride the Time which has a Chorus 11 speed group and a 31 tooth low gear. I actually go faster with that higher low gear even up the hard climb than I do with the
lower gear. And while it feels like I'm riding slower, I am actually simply using a lower cadence but moving faster.
My guess is that thed more climbing I do, the more weight I will lose but it is a very slow process but there is a cerain point at which it is like turning a switch and I start moving faster without getting as tired.
