I have found under my "new" condition that 25-30 miles is a long ride. Perhaps if I returned to my mountain rides with the3 roads now finally repaired I might get back somewhat to my previous shap, but none of the people I used to ride with will ride
those distances now because it is too much climbing for them.

And the newer groups I see are too young and too fast. I would either be dropped or hold them up. I think that if I were even to get back to a semblance of my previous shape, it would take 2 years. That is a long time to be riding alone in the outback.

So it appears that I will be stuck to 25 mile rides for quite some time - that is, forever. That makes me riding about 100 miles per week and 400-500 miles a month. Or 5,000 miles per year in a good weather year when it rains between rides rather than on
my ride days. I suppose that is OK since when I was working, I did three years of 10,000 miles per year. But my climbing is really shot. Just a couple of years ago I did a million feet of climbing per year. Now I will be lucky to make 100,000 feet this
    year.

I wonder if this is getting old or simply losing form.
