Spirit-levels - experience tells me this is one of the things you by
on specification not price. Expensive to do otherwise :-)
"Stabila" brand popular here in Britain - experience is that are tough
and accurate.

Is magnetic. That's taken care of.
For what it's worth I have a very worn non-magnetic one => doesn't
collect grinding dust. Which I use freely, don't concern if it drops
on the floor, gets knocked around, is around when grinding, etc.
Which I "restored" by putting emery paper on a level surface plate and
gliding it, bubble level, to restore the "foot". Get a lot of steelwork
"good enough", or close to final then bring out a / the "good"
level(s).
I have "price selection" purchase(s) - particularly from when
significant %-per-annum tool "turnover".
I reckon a sprit-level about 810mm long (32inches).
Easy to carry but long enough for most steel jobs with inherently
rigid sections.
