  • Henry is sound!

    My "new" saddle horse Henry is now sound (or nearly so). I haven't been
    able to do much with him for over a year because of foreleg lameness,
    probably ringbone. I put him on firocoxib (Equioxx) and it seemed to
    help but not enough. Then we finally got the farrier out and I
    convinced her to shorten his toes (she always trims too long in my
    opinion). That made an amazing difference. And now the weather is about
    to warm up a bit.

    Our last boarded horse left this morning. We are now completely out of
    the horse business. Still feeding horses, of course: we still have my
    gelding Henry, our retired stallion Fred, and five retired mares.

    We also still sell a bit of hay.
