You mean the pastry that the Danish call wienerbrød (Vienna bread)?

    I already know:

Yes, they take some liberties with the filling.

This is the truth! Chinese food in sweden, is generally horrible. Chinese
food in china is absolutely amazing!

There is only one restaurant in europe, in Amsterdam, that served anything close to what I had in china. Their peking duck was divine!

The owner had ambition. He turned chinese into a fine-dining experience,
with white linen table cloth and waiters in tuxedos. Amazing place!

In my experience, the ambition and passion of hte owner is very important.
In sweden there was once a legendary pakistani place that did infinite
    tasting menus.

The default was 12 dishes. Again, fine-dining. The owner memorized the
face and name of every guest and would greet everyone visiting by name. Amazing!

And should you not be satisfied after the 12 small dishes, he would
instruct the chef to improvise until you were happy. I think we did 14 or
15 once, and that was what we could stomach.

Sadly he died, his son inherited it, and turned it into an average indian
place with emphasis on cheap lunch, and after a few years it then closed.
The original owner and founder was the soul of the restaurant. May he rest
    in peace!

That's the way the world works; nothing lasts forever, Live it up while
you still can. We used to have a Chinese restaurant down the street that
was owned by a pastry chef at one the finer restaurants in Waikiki. He
served an awesome soy milk custard. I have no idea how he did it or what
was in it. Was it a panna cotta or was it some kind of tofu? I could not
taste a hint of soy beans it this desert - only pure, fresh, cream. He
claimed it was non-dairy, my guts pretty much confirmed that. It must
have been some kind of Chinese black magic. I asked the guy about it but
I got nothing from him. What the heck, is he planning on taking the
secret to his grave? How shellfish!

I bet most of the fiber is in the peels anyway.

during processing most of those flavoring compounds
are lost and also in processing a lot of the actual

I eat oranges rather than drink the juice because they have

yes, and they actually taste like an orange instead
of a list of perfume ingredients added to sugars.

you spend a lot of $ for OJ but you're not getting
much of what is good - this is one of those cases where
eating the fruit (even if it is shipped a long distance)
is a much better result. i don't mind bitter things
here or there so nibbling on bits of peel is also a good
    added bit of nutrition.

in oranges vs. strawberries we've been really spoiled
in having fresh berries in season but once out of season
the best resultse for our $ spent is buying sliced
frozen berries from the big box store we visit. it's
    about $2/lb.

fresh mangos, we don't eat them, bananas are often a
good bargain, but i'm trying to cut down on calories and
found out that if i have bananas on hand then i also tend
to eat them with peanut butter so that's like a double
whammy because how much energy is packed into that
combination. now i just have a jar of roasted peanuts on
hand and can have just a few of those instead of a much
larger snack (peanut butter and banana) and avoid all
those calories (during the winter it's when i really have
to watch how many calories i'm eating).

"[F]lavorings and additives" is not specific.

Varies, I found this on a couple of brands

    Ingredients:
    orange juice concentrate, filtered water.

    Ingredients
(INGREDIENT STATEMENT NOT REQUIRED FOR SINGLE INGREDIENT FOODS)

    Ingredients
    CONCENTRATED ORGANIC JUICE.

I saw a program about orange juice. They said that during the
concentration and reconstitution process flavour is lost. That flavour
has to be added back artificially. But in that case, I'd expect to see
those flavourings in the ingredient list.

I get a two quart container of pineapple juice and one of apple cider

It has been close to a year since I last had orange juice. However, I
eat a lot of fruit. I have at least a serving of fruit with every meal.

As far as OJ goes, you're probably better off drinking Coke - it's less
    sugar and cheaper.

    But a lot more crap.

Mom likes coke and buys it, i don't but since she
    doesn't want to drink a whole 12oz can i drink a few
ounces that is left-over. it's not enough caffiene
to bother me, but left to my own devices i'd not
buy the stuff myself. i do like hot-chocolate once
in a while instead but that's not often - it is very

Do you ever make it yourself? You can adjust the sweetness. Just mix
some sugar and cocoa powder together and add a little milk to it to
make a paste. Then you can add more milk and stick it in the microwave
or add hot milk. You just have to be careful nuking the mixture because there seems to be some magical point at which it boils over and makes a
    hell of a mess.

The pancake house down the street used to serve orange syrup and coconut
syrup with their pancakes. I loved that. The orange syrup appeared to be
a whole, unpeeled, orange that was processed in a blender with some
sugar. That's 100% natural and tasty! One of my projects will be to try
    to make this awesome syrup.

You're oh so proud of yourself. I have diabetes because of my genes, not

your crystal ball replaced. I don't drink Coke or Pepsi because I see

I might be drinking too much coffee though. What does your crystal ball

That could have been an addiction to caffeine, but maybe not. As far as caffeine levels goes, you're probably better off with Mountain Dew. If
you're addicted to certain drugs, you could be drinking more Coke/Pepsi/Whatever.

Yesterday, I was cooking up some corned beef brisket. I like to add some

After thinking about it for a while, I probably just consumed a little

Ah, I know! Jordan Peterson, he can become the next king!

I'm rooting for Pierre Poilievre. I only saw him once. He made a
raging liberal news broadcaster look like an idiot. I liked that.

Then again, that's all I know about him. Take it from here, Dave

I couldn't spell his last name after studying it for an hour. ;)

He's excellent, go on YouTube to see him on some podcasts...

Like Trump, he wants to save his country "before it's too late"...

He's appalled by how the libs have been destroying Canada...

Very solid guy, I wish I could vote for him...

The potential job losses are immense too. the head of Alcoa estimates

"The televised images showed sclerotic, tired, out-of-ideas Democrats
    sitting in the House chamber...

In comparison with the supercharged political theater put on by Trump
and his Republican allies, it was a sad and pathetic scene...

The Democrats’ mood was visibly dour. They were berated by the

dais and on the Republican side of the chamber...

As the cameras panned across the representatives and senators, Americans
took in the sight of an ancient Al Green (78 years old) shaking his cane
at the president, an ancient Nancy Pelosi (84) grimacing at Trump’s call
for federal legislation to ban the participation of men in women’s
sports, an ancient Elizabeth Warren (75) doom-scrolling on her phone,
and, then, a young-but-witless Rashida Tlaib impotently holding up her miniature white board...

The Democrats are not a party that looks capable of making Trump and the Republicans pay for their inevitable political mistakes and
    miscalculations...

Who are their leaders? Who is going to insist that the Democratic Party
takes up a normie, middle-class message?

We’re a long way from the Democrats finding someone that they can rally around going into the 2026 midterms, let alone the 2028 presidential
    cycle...

If the Democrat party got away from who's being misgendered, men in
women's places, race baiting/DEI, and actually worried about the economy
and security in general (not just on the border, but in the US as well)
    they might become electable again...

Events, dear boy, events — that’s the Democrats’ only hope. But hope isn’t a strategy..."

Da question you should be asking yourself is "why can't I understand how tariffs work?"

Beats me, it's something that any 10 year old schoolkid should be able
to digest. This ain't some college-level macroeconomics course concept.
You've been hypnotized to see things at the level of a 6 year old.

Of course, tariffs can be an important policy tool. I think that tariffs
should be in place for electric cars from China. You could place a 25%
tariff on those products and people would still buy Chinese cars and it
would give American automobile manufacturers some breathing room.

Tariffs can be a useful tool but it's not something that should be used
to bully and intimidate our trade partners. That's just stupid policy.
Tariffs could spell the end of MAGA.

Not only is this a cowardly move, but it goes against what our city says
