for some reason this makes me think of B&M canned brown bread.
my parents bought it when i was a kid. i remember slicing half
inch thick pieces off the roll and slathering it with oleo to
eat. then, i enjoyed it. i'll have to add it to the shopping
list and see if my wife can find it to see if i still do.

Boston Brown Bread is what we make variations on
fairly often. it freezes well and lasts in the fridge
a long time too even after slicing. Mom made six small
loaves the other day in between making four gallons of
baked beans (i cook the dry beans she does the rest).

butter only now. oleo got too expensive and full of
    added water.

There's the question: do they still make canned B&M brown bread?

    Google can provide an answer.

asking my wife to hunt for ghost products when she's out
shopping would be a great way to open a can of whoopass
on myself. i'm not doing that. i checked before asking. :)

    LOL!

she found it at walmart. same isle as canned beans on the very
top shelf she can barely reach. got a can of original and a can
with raisins. will probably open one tonight and have with some
    with leftover lasagna.

i assume if it's on the shelves at walmart that people are buying
it. i never see dust on products on the shelves there. if it isn't
    selling, it isn't stocked.

Odd combination. I'd pair it with ham or pork chops. But whatever
    floats your boat.

I bet they dust the shelves often enough that it doesn't visibly
accumulate. Nobody wants to buy dusty food. It wouldn't take
long to have a teenager walk down each aisle with a Swiffer or
    similar.

it has been an odd bread week. :)

my wife made ricotta bread, neither of us ever had it before,
with the other half of the tub used for the lasagna. recipe said
bread but it was sweet enough i can call it a cake. but i am a
person who thinks bread brands such as wonderbread and sunbeam
are so ridiculously sweet i don't eat them.

i ate it (ricotta bread) with lasagna, jambalaya, and chili this
week. it didn't go well with the chili, too sweet. so tonight i'll
see what the tastebuds say about canned bread with lasagna and
the last 8oz of the pot of chili.

couple weeks ago when we made tuscan soup, i picked up a loaf of
Portuguese Saloio bread from the bakery at Tops. was a first
time for that too. we spread garlic butter on slices and browned
them in a toaster oven. yummy, and went great with the soup.
we'll definitly be buying more of that.

perhaps. but, teenagers working? that's funny. those two words
together are an oxymoron. :) i never see teenagers working at
our walmart. my wife worked in customer service. she was never
pulled off a cash register or counter to dust shelves at
walmart. it was common at other stores she worked at.
