My wife is in the kitchen pan frying some Lake Erie pickerel. I am going
down in a few minutes to saute some shrimp for my taco. Pico de gallo
and guacamole are ready to go.

Bacon Cheeseburgers with some kind of homemade sauce
that tastes like the big mac sauce, it's not just thousand
island though, my wife found the recipe for the sauce
on the web. Tastes pretty good.

Sounds wonderful. It's always a good thing when your Majesty eats a cod
or two. Especially the loin parts. Will definitely improve your
    Highness' disposition.

And yes, only Fordhook beans are suitable for royal palates.

Mmmmm, the cod loin sounds dee-lish and the lima beans,
    too.

My neighbor took me to lunch, and we headed to a great
Mexican restaurant on our side of town. I had ordered
steak with my meal, but it came with chicken instead.
Oh boy, the chicken was excellent!! Shrimp was also
an option for this dish. Served with Spanish rice
    and queso fresco melted cheese.

I was stuffed so no supper tonight.

Lunch was nachos; dinner was salad.

Today's lunch will be beef with brandy and garlic sauce, and
pasta with butter, basil, garlic, and Parmagiano-Reggiano.

queso fresco is an excellent cheese!

I wish there was a decent Tex-Mex restaurant nearby. There is a
restaurant a short walk from my office but it's the same old boring
fare. A few steps up from Taco Bell, mind you, but still not great.
I'm not one to complain about salt but their food is very salty. They
do make an excellent cheese dip using queso fresco. :)

Yep, sometimes lunch is my biggest meal of the day.

I can remember the days when fish sticks actually looked and tasted like
fish rather than being mostly breading. I grew up eating fish sticks.
They were a regular after school snack when I was a teen, to tide me
over until dinner since I didn't bother to eat lunch at school.

I always liked Gorton's Fish Sticks and they are still on the grocery

When I was growing up, we rarely had fish sticks so it was kind of a
treat when we did. These days, we eat a lot of fish. I probably got more

I am not particularly surprised at what is going on. It is obvious when
you see and hear the man speak that he is insane. For half a century the
US has led the a campaign for free trade but Trump has turned the clock backwards with this protectionism and extreme tariffs. He slaps tariffs
on other countries and then bitches and moans when they do the same to
US products. He has gone back and forth, slapping tariffs on, backing
off, slapping them on, exempting some countries, exempting some
products. He clearly has not thought this stuff out.

We wold like to think that his intentions were good but now it is pretty obvious they are not. He has not improved the US economy. He is driving
it into the ground. This is not just a little glitch or a bump on the
way to prosperity. It is more likely to be the start of a major
catastrophe. I want to feel sorry for the Americans who are ashamed of
and embarrassed by Trump and his nonsense but then I have to think about
how many voted for him and who continue to support him. Anything you try
to do now is too little too late.

The iPhone sells for about $1200.  According to Apple, if they were made

How much of that cost difference is due to labour? There are a lot of
other things going on there, like the cost of their cheap coal powered electricity, working conditions, environmental protection, land taxes.
FWIW There was a report a few years back about the relative costs of
auto production in the US. In the US the UAW has negotiated health care
into their wage package while the CAW membership doesn't need a basic
health care plan because it is provided through the government run
health system. That saves the auto manufacturers a bundle.

It's not so much about the economy - that's a diversion. Mostly it's
about consolidation of power and erasing the powers of the legislative
and judicial branches of the US government.

This feels like 1930's Germany where a lot of people held on hoping
Hitler would go away. But he didn't just go away. The American people
can change history and make this guy just go away - or we can let
    history repeat itself.

"A declassified Cold War-era file from the CIA has gone viral over its
coverage of a supposed clash between Soviet soldiers and a UFO, whose passengers reportedly turned the troops to stone before blasting off.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the CIA acquired a
250-page KGB report recounting the events that transpired after a
platoon fired at a flying saucer over Ukraine.

The report included eyewitness accounts and pictures of the aftermath,
which one American agent described as “a horrific picture of revenge on
the part of extraterrestrial creatures, a picture that makes one’s blood freeze.”

The report claims Soviets conducting a training exercise in Ukraine
spotted a “low-flying spaceship in the shape of a saucer” soaring above their heads.

During the encounter, one of the Soviets fired a surface-to-air missile,
which struck the UFO and sent it crashing to the ground.

“It fell to Earth not far away, and five short humanoids with ‘large
heads and large black eyes’ emerged from it,” the report claims.

After escaping the debris of their ruined ship, the beings huddled
together and “merged into a single object that acquired a spherical
    shape,” the surviving soldiers recalled.

“In a few seconds, the spheres grew much bigger and exploded by flaring
up with an extremely bright light. At that very instant, 23 soldiers who
had watched the phenomenon turned into… stone poles,” the report states.

“Only two soldiers who stood in the shade and were less exposed to the luminous explosion survived,” it added.

The KGB allegedly took custody of the “petrified soldiers” and the
ruined spacecraft, which were transported to a secret base near Moscow.

The Soviet scientists found that whatever the light was, it somehow
transformed the soldier’s living cells into a substance that was
    identical to that of limestone.

“If the KGB file corresponds to reality, this is an extremely menacing case,” the CIA concluded. “The Aliens possess such weapons and
technology that go beyond all our assumptions.

“They can stand up for themselves if attacked...”

    UDDER nonsense, David...!!!

    YAHOO NEWS:

Bill Maher Praises Trump After Attending Private Dinner Organized by Kid
    Rock

"Bill Maher has praised Donald Trump after having a private dinner with
    him last month...

Yes, even though Maher has spent years railing against Trump on his HBO
show, Real Time With Bill Maher, the comedian has softened his view of
the president after attending the White House on March 31st for a dinner organized by longtime MAGA-supporter, Kid Rock...

As Maher recounted during Friday’s monologue of Real Time, Trump was “gracious,” and “much more self-aware than he lets on in public,” making
jokes, asking for others’ thoughts, and not taking offense to dissenting opinions. “Just for starters: he laughs,” Maher said. “I’ve never seen him laugh in public. But he does, including at himself. He’s not
    fake.”...

Continuing, Maher claimed Trump even used the word “lost” to describe
the outcome to his 2020 bid for the presidency. “I said, ‘Wow, I never thought I’d hear you say that,’” Maher recalled. “He didn’t get mad.”...

Maher then praised some of Trump’s controversial policies, like reigning
in DEI (which Maher agreed had “gone too far”), his action against trans athletes, his immigration policy, his support for Israel, and more...

Though Maher clarified he still had disagreements with the president, he declared: “A crazy person doesn’t live in the White House. A person who plays a crazy person on TV a lot lives there, which I know is fucked up.
It’s just not as fucked up as I thought it was.”...

Maher was evidently so impressed by the hospitality that, when he got
home and watched clips of Trump in a press conference, he found himself wondering: “Who’s that guy? What happened to Glinda the Good Witch?”...

I used to eat a lot of those. The worst thing about them is that they
take so dang long to heat up. They also ain't so cheap anymore. They're
also super salty but that's not too much of a problem.

Last night I had steak with fried noodles. The steak was fried
teppanyaki style i.e., it was seared on both sides at high heat and then
cut into cubes and fried again at high heat. It's a super fast way to
    cook a steak.

I always liked Gorton's Fish Sticks and they are still on the
grocery shelves where I live.  Have you tried a different brand?
I don't come on here complaining about Banquet frozen dinners.

    Gorton's are terrible.

Mrs. Paul's brand are no better. I haven't found a good brand of
fish sticks in ages. Nor Banquet frozen dinners, since Mandrake
decided to bring those up. I can't think of a single Banquet
frozen dinner I've looked for since... I don't remember when.

I can think of 2 and pretty sure they are banquet? The simple cheap
pot pies, last bought at 89cents (it's been a while!). And they
make a chipped beef in white gravy that Don likes for an occasional
    shift.

Neither are screamingly good but they hit the spot.

I used to eat a lot of those. The worst thing about them is that they
take so dang long to heat up. They also ain't so cheap anymore.
They're also super salty but that's not too much of a problem.

Last night I had steak with fried noodles. The steak was fried
teppanyaki style i.e., it was seared on both sides at high heat and
then cut into cubes and fried again at high heat. It's a super fast
    way to cook a steak.

I might look into teppanyaki style! I wonder if it adapts to pork
loin? Thanks as it's worth lookimg into.

You must be as wide as you're tall after eating all that.
