• Saturday Night Dinner Plans and for Easter Sunday, =?UTF-8?B?dG9vPyAgNC

From ItsJoanNotJoAnn@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 19 19:56:05 2025
Yeah, yeah, it's a bit early for many to be thinking about
Saturday night chow. But I thought I'd ask just the same
before I shuffle off to the kitchen. Big lunch/dinner
plans for either tonight or Easter Sunday?

I've got one leftover dish to finish off tonight, however
I'm also going to start on Easters' meal. There's a small
boneless ham to go in the oven for a short while. Then
there's Steak House Potato Salad to be started as well.
Small red potatoes have been scrubbed and will be steamed
in the microwave and then the goodies to go into those so
it can chill overnight. As has been discussed here in the
past, potato salad and many other 'salad' dishes greatly
benefit from a long rest in the refrigerator, preferably
    overnight.

Most likely the drinks for both meals will be some sort
of diet caffeine-free cola/soda. I'll leave the wine
    to Dave and Ed.

I doubt she would invite her royal Majesty to dinner. It's equally
unlikely that her Highness would accept anyway.

Tonight we'll be having German peasant food.
Sort-of-schnitzel - pounded-thin slices of pork loin, dredged in
seasoned flour, dipped in egg, then coated with almond meal, rather than breadcrumbs.
    Scalloped potatoes.
Steamed, buttered, ribbons of Savoy csbbsge.

Dang! Is she making that 540-mile trip to eat dinner
with me?? I wish someone would let me know when
company is coming; I'd prepared something a bit more
    fancy.

If she shows up I'm prepared in the milk department.
There's a gallon of half-n-half in the 'frig.

Sounds good. The best schnitzel I've ever had was at a small german
joint near an army base in kentucky. I think that little town had lots
of german emigrants. It was mighty good vittles.

No worries. As long as you continue to kiss her Majesty's ass, she will
give you any royal boon you desire.

I like them both and are prepared to offer whichever
she prefers. I was just stating there's an abundance
of moo juice if she prefers that with her meal.

My God! Has she finally ditched the Coffee Mate?

What in the world gave you that idea?? The half-n-half
is for drinking, the powdered creamer is for my coffee.
    Try to keep up. 🙄

And the not mentioned heavy whipping cream is for the
chicken pot pie and homemade _cream_ of tomato soup.

There's nearly a pint of heavy whipping cream in this. As you can see,
I'm making a bisque. I forgot to show the bowls of soda crackers. ☹️

Mmmmmmm. 😋 I was thinking about your shrimp bisque recipe
last night. But before I make that again I want to try
cream of tomato soup with fire roasted tomatoes and compare
it with my favorite standard recipe for cream of tomato soup.

The recipe I found online which is like several others I
checked out is sooooo good. Needless to say better than
that overly sweet Campbell's version. I have high
expectations for the fire roasted version and will report
my opinion when I make it.
