• Nice treat tonight

From Ed P@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 12 22:50:24 2025
About a week ago, in conversation with my son we were talking about some
of the things we used to do on a somewhat regular basis. Once a week,
I'd stop and pick up something for dinner on my way home from work. It
varied from Papa Gino's pizza or cheesesteaks sometimes KFC. Nothing
fancy, but pretty good and saved a night of cooking. Some of those
things I've not had for 7 to 10 years now.

Yesterday, my son called and said they were getting some take-out and
would bring it to my house tonight to eat. Didn't think much about what
he would get but there are some local places, of course.

Well, they showed up with a bucket of KFC and some sides. Damn, it has
been a long time, so it was a nice treat! The closest to me is about 12
    miles, just never bothered.

He will be working Sunday so that was my Father's Day dinner. Very appreciated.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I got off work early today and thought about
stopping at the gas station that sells freshly fried chicken but I didn't.

    Happy Father's Day in advance!

I was a little concerned. He said: I'm bringing take-out to eat at your

thought maybe they just wanted to use my table.

Yes, it was a thoughtful treat! For me, it's been about
2 or 3 years since I've chowed down on KFC and it was
    pretty good, too.

For me 2004 was probably the last time I ate tortured factory chicken

KFC was always a treat when we were kids. Unfortunately, fried chicken
these days is cut so you'll be getting some ribs and spine with the
thighs and breast portions. That was a very bad thing to do to chickens.
    They don't deserve such treatment.

Tonight I cooked up a Classic American burger.

In the old days, KFC chicken had nine separate pieces. The choice part
was the central breast piece. There was only one of those per chicken.
Beats the heck out of me where that piece was from. It's a mystery.
