    This quiz is over and Joshua Kreitzer makes an impressing win!
    I'm kind of content with this quiz - only one stumper, and no question
    that everyone knew. Rather different people knew different things
    (or at least guess better on different things).

    Yes, they have overtaken Tesla in this field.

    Three. St Louis 1904, Los Angeles 1932 and Melbourne 1956.

    After 1960 there have been a lot more of them. Tokyo in 1964, Mexico City
    in 1968, Montréal in 1976 and so one.

    3. The catalogue of which popular artist includes two studio albums of
    which the first word in the title is "Born"?

    Bruce Springsteen. The albums are "Born to Run" and "Born in the USA".

    4. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus have assumed the duties as the head
    of the interim government in which country?

    Bangladesh.

    He stepped in when the incumbent Prime Minister had to flee after
    large-scale protests.

    He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 together with Grameen Bank
    which he founded in 1983.

    5. If you are going to Varanasi, which river may you be looking into to
    soak yourself into?

    Ganges.

    Although, you are probably only looking into it if you are Hindu. I
    think that for myself prefer to swim in water that is a little more clean.

    6. Which is the only country to have taken at least one medal in every
    Summer and Winter Olympics since 1908?

    Sweden.

    I will have to admit that I did zero research on my own for this question.
    I rely on articles in Swedish news papers, which observed this fact
    after Finland's failure to win any medal in the Paris Olympics, leaving
    us alone with the streak.

    As for how come that some other countries that usually wins a lot of medals
    do not qualify, I guess that depends on the boycotts of the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.

    7. Which city of religious importance was known as Yathrib until around
    AD 627 when tradition has it that the ruler of the city forbade this
    name?

    Medina.

    Not unexpecedly, Mecca was a popular answer. But Muhammed was not back in
    Mecca until 629, so that was a clue. At least no one answered Varanasi. :-)

    8. In which country are you most likely to find speakers of Mordvinian,
    a Finnish-Ugric language?

    Russia.

    A somewhat unexpected stumper. If you hear of a Finnish-Ugric language
    you have never heard of before, you can be almost sure that it's spoken
    in Russia. There are a quite a couple of them there.

    I learnt just before I posted the quiz that Mordvinian is no longer
    considered a single language, but rather Mordvinic is a small language
    group consisting of Erzya and Moksha, previously considered dialects.
    But apparently, they are not mutually intelligible.

    9. The world's most recent national capital is Nusantara. It is in fact
    so recent that it has not been inaugurated yet. It was slated to happen
    on Aug 17th, but it was postponed due to delays in construction. So the
    old capital that faces the risk of sinking is still the capital for some
    time. The name Nusantara can roughly be translated into English as
    "outer islands". Of which country is Nusantara becoming the capital?

    Indonesia.

    It's located on Borneo, which is an outer island in relation to Java.

    Yes, Bali, as suggested by one entrant is even more outer. However, it
    is not a country. :-)

    10. Which well-known artist has recently taken place in the US Capitol
    representing Arkansas as a statue?

    Johnny Cash.

    11. Francis Ford Coppola is hitting the screen with his recent
    "Megalopolis", a title directly may make you think of a file from 1927
    by which director?

    Fritz Lang. His film was name "Metropolis".

    12. Look at the picture http://privat.sommarskog.se/2000/Stora/05.JPG.
    This is outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Who is the artist
    behind this puppy?

    Jeff Koons.

    I will need to confess I did not know this myself, until I looked it
    when preparing the quiz. Had it been an artist I never heard of it,
    I would have looked for another picture.

    Every once in a while, I find that following the EV market fairly
    closely priduces a small return.

    I didn't know the answer before this quiz, but those boycotts are
    exactly why I answered Sweden.

    It's only partially dependent on that.

    Two people answered France, and one person (me) answered UK. France and
    the UK have both participated in every Olympics -- every Summer Olympics
    since 1896 and every Winter Olympics since 1924. Neither country
    boycotted Moscow 1980.

    However, France didn't win any medals at Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956, and
    there have been seven Winter Olympics where the UK didn't win any
    medals, most recently in 1992. (Both countries have won at least one
    medal at every Summer Olympics.)

    France not winning any medals in Winter Olympics is a little surprising. UK
    not winning any is maybe less surprising. The hockey triumpm in 1936 notwithstanding.

    I think the most "interesting" answer was Germany. I mean, there
    were quite a few Olympic games where there was no "Germany"
    competing at all. Yeah, there were two other countries with a
    resembling name, but that's another story.

    And speaking of this, I am a little puzzled by the fact that until
    this year that Finland was the only other country. I mean, in 1908
    Finland was part of Russia. But it was some sort of Duchy, so maybe
    they were permitted to have their own Olympic team.
