Posted this request a few days back and have no answers yet.call them lube plates. ACI plates started in 1967 but by 1977 their use stopped because of too many being damaged by weather & other causes. Info on both & other RR markings can be found though a Google search.
Can someone please tell me when the consolidated stencil, known as "lube plate to many modelrailroaders, was first introduced? The early 70s I believe but I need the exact year.

From snowy Victoria, BC The white on black boxes started in 1972 for airbrakes only. In 1974 they became 2 boxes: one side for air brakes & the other side for lube info. They were called Consolidated Stencils by the RR industry but foamers & modelers
