The sound of an engine fades as a bike pulls up in front of the bar. The rider pushes the bike back into the curb next to the old red Ultra, pulls off his helmet, steps off the 45-year-old Honda and heads for the door.
Swinging the doors aside, he steps to the bar, throws a gold card down and says, "Barkeep! Give me an SNPA in a dusty glass and get these other gentlemen whatever they're drinkin' !" He turns, leans back against the bar and surveys the room. "Damn, he
    said, you guys got old."

You'll always be a few months older than me ... Welcome back ! And
make mine a shot of uncut 'shine .
Sounds like the Honda's running fine . I've been putting some miles
on the Ultra , he's wearing a Keihin clone carb right now - Got another
like new OEM unit from another RMHer , it needs a good cleaning and I'll combine the best parts of it and the original one of these daze .
Right now priority is the 4Runner , the seeping head gasket turned
out to be a cracked head . Got a low miles motor coming and somebody
else set up to install it (Van Evera's did a good job on my trans
    rebuild so ...) .
Oh and you were right about the truck , it's running a bit lean .
Drove it to Memphis yesterday to drop off 2 grand daughters and pick up
another , did a plug check this AM and it was pretty white . New jets
and metering rods on the way .

    I was what? :-)
My kids hate it when I do that, too. Between the 5 boys I get probably 2 calls a week to fix something over the phone. Hey, at least they keep in touch with me that way. I just wish one of them would buy a Chevy so that the majority of my knowledge
would apply. I used to hate it when Andrew would call with questions about that damned old Ford diesel ambulance. I don't know a lot about Fords (although this motor home I live in is teaching me) and even less about diesels. But, hey, he sold it for
more than he paid for it, so that counts as a win, right?

I can think of worse people to install the motor than VanEvera's. Only time I ever had a problem with something they did, they fixed it correctly and with no fuss...and they didn't scratch the brand-new paint job while they did it.

They built the 700R4 that's in my truck ... flawless . Put a shift
kit in it and once I got the (TVR?) cable adjusted correctly it shift
just where I wanted it to . I'm not sure the converter lockup is working
, but that may be because I hooked it up (vacuum line) wrong .
Got just enough 'shine left for one round ... EASY! this is 190 proof
    uncut stuff .

Not if I can help it. I know exactly what I'd see.
