Or, they were opening wide with delight at seeing a handful

    I reckon you over-think things! ;-)

I have previously said that in the song Wild Rover
“The landlady’s eyes opened wide with delight.”
could refer to the waxing (opening) of the new/dark
moon (closed eye) to full moon (open eye).

However that is only one eye.

But tomorrow morning at 7:53 a.m. here in St. John’s,
Newfoundland, due to a partial solar eclipse, the
sun will be 85% covered, and you can consider the
coming out of that as the opening of the other eye.

The song Wild Rover is very important to me since
it heavily influenced my Wild Rover Poe-M on or
near Bloomsday of 1993, during my second waning
crescent high, thus I hope for a return of sorts
    beginning tomorrow morning.

I liken the prodigal son’s years of wild roving to Rama’s
14 years in the wilderness, and to my 29 low/working
years, and the sovereigns bright to my hard negotiated
mystic proposal for the world developed during those
29 wilderness years. (On the other hand Jesus had
    only 3 low/working years.)

However my attempt beginning this morning has failed
and I won’t try again until sunset tomorrow, regardless
of whether or not I sight the moon then.

No, I am trying to complete an attempt by early April Fool’s Day,
and Saudi Arabia claims to have sighted the moon today, so
I began a new global new age mystic activation sequence
    attempt at 2329 UTC March 29, 2025.

Of relevance to Ireland, Amergin and Fionn had the common
    seven years of low/working/wilderness/foresaken years.
Jacob had 7+an 11 year sunspot cycle=18. I have had
7+2 11 year sunspot cycles=29. Jesus and Gwydion
had 3. Rama, Moses, and Mohammed had 3+11=14.

The common seven is mentioned in this poem,
from John Matthews book Taliesin..., on p. 90:

Seven years your right, under a flagstone, in a quagmire,
Without food, without taste, but the thirst you ever torturing,
The law of the judges your lesson, and prayer your language:
And if you like to return
You will be, for a time, a Druid, perhaps.
    (Ancient Irish Poem)

But anyway, this is getting off topic for the music groups,
so if you are interested further see alt.religion.druid .

Well, it is still not full moon, so the moon eye is still opening. :-)
