I'm currently reviewing recordings and performances of all of Verdi's operas. I've listened recently to all the Rigolettos mentioned above and to others as well. I didn't find Callas convincing as Gilda in the Gobbi-Serafin recording nor did I
particularly like Peerce's Duke in the Warren-Cellini recording although I agree both baritones are fantastic Rigolettos. The one recording that in my opinion captured the real drama of the opera is the Bruson-Sinopoli in which all the soloists are
excellent.
