    At one time in like 1973 as I was still hearing lots of 50s things I had not heard before, "Searchin'" was my favorite record of all time.

    "Searchin'" finished 11th, winning 5 rounds and getting 72.14% of the votes in its battles.

    "Young Blood" finished 28th, winning 4 rounds and getting 60.84% of the votes in its battles.

    On my list of 1957 Favorites, I ranked "Young Blood" at #31 and "Searchin'" at #62. In retrospect, I'm thinking "Searchin'" could be higher up, though.

    I'd say that the trend is that the older people who actually heard these songs in the 50s, and the people like me who prefer 1950s R&B to any other style will usually prefer "Searchin'." But younger people and others who prefer later rock and roll (
    including soul) from after the 50s, including rock critics whose lists are used to come up with the Acclaimedmusic rankings usually prefer "Young Blood."

    I think there are a lot more remakes of "Young Blood" from like 1965 and later than there are of "Searchin," than there are of "Searchin'" "Young Blood" fits better for white rock groups from after the 60s. The Beatles, who did heart these songs when
    they were current hits, did "Searchin'" all the time in their early live shows, but also did "Young Blood." Paul sings lead on "Searchin" and George sings lead on "Young Blood." I think it's John doing the bass part (You Better Leave My Daughter Alone)
    on "Young Blood." Paul McCartney chose the Coasters version of "Searchin'" as one of his Desert Island Discs in 1982.

    The Hollies have excellent vocal harmonies on many of their records. I have both versions as a 7.The Hollies rival the Beatles for the best vocal harmonies among the British Invasion groups IMO.
