Okay at last I have Nova working ok on the PC----now I need to get our newsgroup back properly on my iPhone.

I just need a read-only copy of the newsgroup on there---which I had (via Google Groups) until today when suddenly it has switched somehow to "Narkive" and requires time and effort to get past the dreaded "captcha" shit that seems built in with this one
to actually connect with the newsgroup page.

So anybody got ideas for making this easier and preferably getting either the proper Nova page up or at least the proper Google Groups newsgroup page up on my phone. PLEASE---NO CAPTCHA!!

    Thanks in advance

Aren't you able to open this link in your iPhone browser?

    https://www.novabbs.com/arts/thread.php?group=rec.music.rock-pop-r%252Bb.1950s

    or this (until February 22)?

Roger, *on my iPhone*, if I Google search for: narkive rec 1950s
the topmost find when selected will bring up: https://rec.music.rock-pop-r-b.1950s.narkive.com/
this comes up *without any Captcha*

if I search Google for our 1950s newsgroup on Nova,
*it does not find it* - Google has seemingly blocked this search,
it just brings up Narkive !!!

for Nova, go to *Bing* search and enter: novabbs 1950s
the second topmost find is what you want: https://news.novabbs.org/arts/thread.php?group=rec.music.rock-pop-r%2Bb.1950s again, *without any Captcha*

I can see now why JLA Forums never caught my eye even though I see the announcement that they've been around for 18 years, such a very limited number of newsgroups available.

Besides this group, there's no poetry groups or even the Bob Dylan or Beatles newsgroups.

I suppose JLA Forums might be convinced to add those groups or maybe not, but right now Nova BBS remains the best option for me.

JLA has a pretty spiffy version of this newsgroup called "1950s Music" there, though, spam free.

    🙂

    That would be great, thanks.

Three essential Usenet newsgroups for me are:

    ***

    alt.arts.poetry.comments

    rec.music.dylan

    rec.arts.poems

    ***

If you could get those added, I'm on board.

    Thanks again.

Please, Will, what is so 'spiffy' about JLA's format that
would make you abandon Nova for JLA? Perhaps other
folk here might want to follow your lead.

Recently, MummyChunk, in JLA, responded to a message of mine about
his Frankie Laine album. This message:
"Thanks for the info. I wonder why some of them say Printed in the USA
    and some do not?"
never left JLA - it's not in Nova, it's not in Google Groups - which
suggests JLA might not be reliable?

    Good morning, MummyChunk, thanks.

The newsgroup alt.arts.poetry.comments has the largest number of posters, hopefully JLA Forums will add it soon, as as many as a dozen poetry posters will be looking for a new Usenet venue in February when Google Groups closes.

    https://groups.google.com/g/alt.arts.poetry.comments

Nova BBS is poised to become the top Usenet venue (in my opinion) but other options are always good to have:

The admin team replied to me and said that they were going to add
several of the poetry groups very soon

Placeholder for some of the requested groups. They should be
populated over the coming days. Please pass along for those who might
    be interested.

Recently, MummyChunk, in JLA, responded to a message of

his Frankie Laine album. This message:
"Thanks for the info. I wonder why some of them say

never left JLA - it's not in Nova, it's not in Google
    Groups -
    which
suggests JLA might not be reliable?

I would definitely post there as well, except the missing
    post
you've mentions would make me cautious.

I spoke with the admin and they are adding one of the
    android groups
that was requested prior to these that I made. They said
    until all
the messages are processed, updates might be a bit slower
    than normal.

    Good morning, MummyChunk, thanks.

The newsgroup alt.arts.poetry.comments has the largest number
of posters, hopefully JLA Forums will add it soon, as as many as a
dozen poetry posters will be looking for a new Usenet venue in
    February when Google Groups closes.

    https://groups.google.com/g/alt.arts.poetry.comments

Nova BBS is poised to become the top Usenet venue (in my
opinion) but other options are always good to have:

Hello again, I've successfully signed up with JLA Forums and am making
    a few test posts.

I remember that posts may take a little while to appear on Nova BBS
and Google Groups, and I'm curious to see what form the posts will be
    in.
